Can't look into it much as Seb, Rosberg and Webber were going out for another run while the track was getting quicker until Heikki's engine blew up. Worrying thing though is Button was only 3 hundreths faster than Seb after 25-30 odd minutes after he set it.

Oh no, not more 'Dennis is God, Whitmarsh is a buffoon' comments!

Average place in the WCC when under Ron Dennis = 3.2
Average place in the WCC when under Martin Whitmarsh = 2.25

Even if you take away 2007 where under Ron Dennis, McLaren were thrown out of the WCC and so finished last, Whitmarsh still has a better record than Ron Dennis in terms of placement. What's more, in 2009, which is counted as a year where Martin Whitmarsh was in charge for the majority of the season, their campaign was badly affected by a poor performing car (designed under Ron Dennis) and more scandal in Australia where they were stripped of points (also under Ron Dennis).

So really, Ron Dennis isn't the God that everyone makes him out to be and Whitmarsh has been performing adequately in comparison.

This is of course a valid point, as many will know it was of course 1998. So starting from 1999 up to 2008 was a period of 10 seasons where Ron Dennis didn't win it (although they would have had a certain scandal not happened) and Martin Whitmarsh is in his 4th year of trying to do so. From those 10 years under Ron Dennis, their average finish was 3.5, under Martin Whitmarsh it has been 2.25. So who's had the better performance over these last 14 years?

Of course Ron Dennis has been very successful at McLaren and it is not my intention for his achievements to be discounted. However, people tend to have very rose tinted glasses when they think back upon his era.

It's amazing reading different countries opinion with regard to the F1 field.

The British say it's unbelievable that Fernando is joint leading the WDC and still hasn't got the car to fight with until now. Where as you compare it with the German papers saying it's a miracle Sebastian is leading the WDC in a worse off posistion than Fernando at the moment as the car looks to be getting worse and worse. Upgrades are minimal compared with Ferrari as they only focus on the exhaust at every waking hour and they look to be going backwards rather than forward.

RBR look to be in the ****!

You could argue those years where when Ferrari and Bridgstone were utterly dominant

We could argue a lot of things!

The point still stands though that an average finishing position of 2.25 in the WCC shouldn't be considered to be bad or inadequate. Especially when the time frame is relatively small.

Anyone reckon Hamilton has adopted Schumachers old tactic this year?

Go beyond the limit of grip in practice, deliberately making mistakes so you know exactly where the limit of maximum grip is, so you can be flawless in qually and race?

cos he seems to be making a few mistakes in practice this year but thats where they stay

Seb is doing a good job to be leading the championship, but Alonso is doing a better one. Webber has 48 points, 13 behind, Massa has 2 points 59 behind

Just because Webber is closer to Seb than Massa to Alonso, doesn't necessarily mean Alonso is doing a better job than Seb as both are leading the world championship in cars that are pushing them to keep up with better models.

Massa is being replaced for a reason and it's not because of his age, he's had it now and it would be very easy to replace him with somebody better.

Let's be honest, anybody could do a better job than Massa in those last 5 races in that Ferrari and hopefully during this season we will get clarification to see how much it's the car and the driver if they do bother to replace Massa because even his country think he sucks now.

That's because Webber is also doing a solid job unlike Felipe.

They think it will almost certainly rain on Saturday, but the forecast is now dry for Sunday. Not sure what I want to happen weather-wise, Grosjean looks very, very good in dry conditions, I'd love to see Lotus get their first win of the season, but Red Bull looked poor this morning and their car looks more competitive in intermediate conditions.

Looks like McLaren did something right for a change, getting a quick run in on options before it rained.
