See my post on previous page. Indeed there is growing use of the term Irish Holocaust when referring it instead of potato famine.

I did read your post, and I'm not entirely ignorant of history. Lord Salisbury, the Prime Minister at the time, was a callous bastard with a grudge against the Irish. The political establishment was very slow to respond to a rapidly worsening crisis, and a lot of people died unecessarily as a result. All that is true, but to blame a natural disaster on the British is just another example of a victim mentality distorting any attempt at an objective view of history. And all that cr@p about the Muslims is just conspiracy theory nonsense.

No one is blaming the british for the disease, just their seizing upon it as a way to fulifil long desired onjectives concerning the natives but without the blame.

There is an element of truth in your interpretation, granted. But you're just focusing on one limited historical paradigm, and as a consequence your argument lacks validity. By oversimplifying and only allowing yourself one view of an historical event, you are allowing prejudice to blind you to complex and often conflicting truths. "Man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest."

I admit an element of bias is certainly involved, bias can never be negated but I have read the material. The simplification is what I can be bothered to write on an android app. A very condensed generalised point. It branches off into alot off different areas like how companies like Guinness should shoulder their own portion of the blame etc. But then it would just turn into a massive wall-o-text.

I do object to the victim mentality point. I didnt start the thread and wasnt prepared to bring it up but you did ask.
