Im not sure you are correct. its only easy for you to say that marko because you are not earning as much as a footballer. The amount they earn you would think you wouldn't be able to spend because its a huge amount but I don't believe that human beings ever get to a point where they do not care or have a thrive for a lack of a better word to earn more money.

There are other things such as ambition that come into play admittedly but I think the most important thing to a modern day player is money. I don't think snoddy would even be considering staying at leeds united if he wasn't offered a contract that made him the highest earner at the club

I more or less agree with you on this Marko. Was just pointing out that many of the players are that thiick that they don't know what they're asking for, don't know what's realistic etc. and are putty in the agents hands. It's a very rare thing for a player to be loyal to a club these days. They may say it, but it's often only because they'd get slaughtered if they didn't. Basically, there is the strong possibility that a player doesn't even know he's lying when he says "I didn't ask for £xx000/week!

I get 100 a week off my dad for food and on a slow week I find myself with more money than I can spend. It happens, it accumulates. They are either earning way more than they can spend in which case they wouldn't want or need a bigger wage packet, or they are spending every last penny in which case a demand for a bigger wage packet is entirely valid.

Hmm, I reckon if I had the money there, I'd find something to spend it on and the luxuries would increase. Once you lower your wage you then have to sacrifice these luxuries which people naturally do not want to do. I really don't think the consideration of how I am going to spend it really comes into there eyes when thinking about what offer to accept, its more 'what am I worth in comparison to other players who are earning decent wages?' No one wants to be conned and because of this they will not accept a lower wage.

In some cases money is irrelevant to signing a contract or not, for example the opportunity to play for a certain manager or the a certain club. I dont think leeds have that pull purely because of the obvious unrest of the supporters which makes players worry about the stability of the club

Two facts that I accept (although I may not like them):

    1. A footballer should try to earn as much as possible.
    2. An owner of a business (inc a football club) should try to make as much profit as he/she can.

The fact I can not accept is the role agents play in the process, taking money form both sides and giving nothing back...

I don't like nor trust Bates, but I also have no time for agents touting our players & targets around to make a quick, undeserved buck...
The opening of this transfer period has highlight all of the above to me, I can not wait until clubs unite and turn on agents.

Actually, I think agents can and should play a vital role in protecting their client's (player) best interests. However, I think in many cases they have overstepped their boundaries which has had a negative impact on the game.

Seen a couple of videos with Brian Clough talking about agents, he's very critical of them too. I think agents are completely unnecessary. If the player is offered £10,000 a week, and he's happy with that, the agent should sit down and shut the **** up. At the end of the day, it's up to the player to decide his move, and the terms of his contract. They affect him and not the agent.

For me agents are similar to Trade Union's.

OK in the good times when cash is flowing and the mood is optimistic.

However they are as much use as a lead weight when the cash runs out and the outlook is more grey.

Good analogy, they both protect individuals who don't, for the most part, have the savy to be on a level playing field when negotiating (funny word to use here) with employers.
