WAYNE ROONEY has warned Sunderland fans he will not forget their gloating over Manchester United’s title heartbreak.
United thought they were Premier League champions after beating the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light on the final day.

But within seconds news came through Sergio Aguero had scored a last-gasp winner against QPR as Manchester City snatched the trophy out their neighbour’s grasp.

Sunderland supporters cheered and taunted United’s players by doing City’s adopted ‘Poznan’ celebration.

Now Rooney and Co cannot wait until they face Sunderland again next season.

He said: “When the final whistle went, we didn’t really know what the score at City was. But then we heard the Sunderland fans cheering.

“It was sad to see that because they should be supporting their own team really.

“They didn’t have the best of seasons so for them to be cheering like that was sad.

“It was something myself and a lot of the players won’t forget.”

United led by eight points by the end of Easter Sunday but lost their crown on goal difference after injury-time goals from Edin Dzeko and Aguero on a dramatic final day.

Roo said: “You wish it hadn’t happened like that for our fans. As players, it was sickening to lose the title like that.

“Everyone’s been saying how well City have played and how they’ve dominated the Premier League.

“But if that’s them dominating, they’ve done it on goal difference. We can hold our heads up high because we pushed City all the way.

“We will be back, there’s no worries about that — we will be back stronger and better than ever.”

Defender Phil Jones, 20, believed the league title was in the bag at Sunderland.

Jones, who made 34 starts in his first season at United, said: “I thought we’d pulled off the impossible at first.

“But then City scored two quick goals and that killed us.

“It’s been a massive learning curve. Being at United has given me an insight into the passion and drive at the club.”

Not going to lie, we deserve backlash. We rubbed salt in the wound while it was fresh.

Have to say mate, it embarrased me a wee bit.

We have had a great relationship with United over the years, what the **** was it about?

(Rooney is an ugly **** though...)

I don't really understand it, not a massive fan of United but I don't want them hating us. At all.

Rooney isn't a human. I don't think trolls can be classed as ugly/good looking.

So for their fans to sing the Blaydon Races when we were not doing well is ok, just banter pal, and thats all, always has been always will be, take your shiney suit off, and get stuck into them. WHY do we deserve backlash, have our fans not had our noses rubbed in it, by Man U fans ,year in year out, for **** sake we took 4 points off Citteh, were we supposed to win the ****in title for Man U as well?

He should have been in OT when the chant of "we hate scousers" started at EVERY game. Scouse baiting only stopped when they signed Rooney. Same as the version about "scum" stopped when they signed the adorable Alan Smith from LUFC.

Leave the resentments to empty headed fans.

I'd be very surprised if "Granny shagging" is the worst thing that anybody has done out of everybody on this forum.

The stupid thing is, we will recover from this - probably by sticking a few past you in our next fixture, but you've just burnt a bridge. Bear in mind too, that as soon as Fergie uttered the name of young Jordan Henderson he was packing his bags, so I wouldn't expect United/Fergie to recompense you with just one, solitary hammering.
