He's served half of the original sentence and is now back playing football - he killed two young boys while drink-driving on a motorway.

Is it right that he should walk straight back into football?

Should Swindon Town not consider the devastated family?

It's shocking that. Granted he's served time but there's a moral issue here too.

No, but then again Lee Hughes came back after killing someone as well. Both Hughes and this guy got very light sentences especially when you consider that their innocent victims lost their lives because of these actions.

Yeah, Lee Hughes was sentenced to six years and only served three. <grr>

You can't imagine how bad the families must feel...:emoticon-0119-puke:

In short, no, Swindon Town shouldn't consider the family and have no obligation towards them whatsoever.

I don't know why people seem so surprised that he's been released early, that is the nature of our legal system, people barely ever serve their full sentences but for terrible behaviour. Fact is the man has done his time and is within his rights to pursue his career once again, it is the choice of the clubs whether to sign him or not.

You can quibble about the length of the sentence (and I'd probably agree) but that has nothing to do with McCormick or Swindon, and is a separate issue altogether.

I'd agree with this, it's more the fact he has a career in the public domain. Had the guy swept streets and gone straight back into work after being released it would be classed as part of his rehabilitation.
However I do agree the prison sentence is utter bollocks but that is thanks to our ****ty prison system and people not being afraid to go away any more.

And frankly we're all being a bit hypocritical here.

I would like ot say that I have never driven while intoxicated but I think the only people who can actually say that are people who don't drink or who don't drive. How many people here can say they have never been behind the wheel with one too many ?

If you have driven while over the limit, then it is simply good luck that you haven't killed someone. The crime happens when you get into the car, not when the car hits someone.

And, yes, the punishment society decides is appropriate has been served.

Have to agree with you Fredd.

Not saying it's right or justifies his action, and has anyone thought that he might actually be haunted by his stupid actions?
And before you say what about the families, I agree they will be suffer but as Fredd says he has served his time which society has deemed appropriate. People only get pissed because they see him back playing football and in the public domain.

It is an awkward one, but you can't treat him differently cause he plays football.

Even though he's a ****ing idiot who deserves a slap and no real sympathy, he doesn't seem like an evil bloke.

Sums up the legal system in this country really.

He knew what he was doing when he got behind the wheel after drinking therefore should have been punished properly.

He shouldn't be given murder charges or the same charges as someone whos an evil **** who's raped someone or w/e

But 3.5 years is ridiculous. His disgraceful actions and dangerous driving lead to two boys getting killed.

Should be a 15 year sentence, and maybe let out after 10 years. If he's truly sorry for his actions and not an evil bloke, the guilt and the horror of the events will also be a massive punishment.

    Maybe.

But he's no guiltier than I have been several times or that I bet you have been. He has just had worse luck.

The children had worse luck still.

Why do people get convincted for 7 years and you think okay, I guess that's alright he didn't mean after all and then gets out after a little over 3 years? So we convict murderers for 20 years and they get out after 10? it just makes no sense.
