Whatever has happened, whatever you or I may think, whatever the club decides to do Barton will not have the opportunity to take part in any matches until November at the earliest. Time now to start thinking, discussing, arguing, wumming, informing ... about signings, releases, formations, season tickets, etc for the new season. Barton doesn't exist at the moment so lets get back to the good stuff.
Yes we need more signings threads. Drogba, Kalou, Andy Johnson, Reo-Coker, Ben Foster, Shay Given. As a wise man once said, "talk to me".
With the Euros starting in two weeks time, you'd think that the prospect of watching some of the world's finest international teams going for it would be enough of a distraction. Sign of the times we've had little more than a thread so far?
watford you've got kalou in that list that geezer is a pile of crap & can't work out why the scum played him totally useless & mo thanks, i reckon after the euro's we might see mh make his move in transfer market & hope what he likes is on view.
I wasn't seriously suggesting we go for any of those players, they are merely some of the many names already discussed and it's not even June.
Also if this was some sort of parralel universe where a player of Kalou's ability existed and was up for grabs on a free with a chance of us getting him then I'd be for it but for some reason top managers rate him, given he's survived numerous reigns at Chelsea and I expect he'll go to Arsenal as Wenger has always been an admirer for some reason.
Good try Eamon, but King Canute comes to mind!! There are at least six active Barton threads on the go at the mo, not counting this one.... Just noticed that the you started the biggest one of the lot!
He's just returned from a holiday in Portugal. Wait until he gets tweeting...every other thread on here will be a Joey...
Didn't realise the Copa America was on? I'm afraid I'm one of those that has become a little disenchanted with internationals (I don't really have a second team that I like watching at the moment). I think Hodgson wasted the chance to blood a younger team at international tournament level with, relative to the England job, reduced expectations - it should have been a win/win scenario. I can't muster too much enthusiasm towards a team that was probably in its prime and world class 4-6 years ago and bottled it (or had the usual hard-luck story) but past it now. Once it starts and we get bombarded with wall to wall footy then I'll get properly into it I'm sure.
I think the lack of enthusiasm is due to the drab, dull, one-dimensional defensive style of football served up in the last few International Tournaments. I hope this one will be different but I won't hold my breath.
