Would anyone have any idea how much longer we have to suffer this Barton nonsense in light of the QPR statement regarding an internal investigation in 'due course'?
This has to be decided quickly. You don't want someone who could be sacked at pre season training or on the Malaysian tour.
Fair point, when does the Malaysian tour commence? I've checked. Starts 10th July. Next week is long enough for me, thanks.
Can't really see Barton joining the Malaysian tour; TF simply wouldn't want his brands associated with anything or anyone whiffy in the very place he wants to be the progenitor of his rough diamond polishing empire. You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.
Length of investigation (depends what they charge him with and time to gather evidence). Minimum 5 days notice of hearing. A few days deciding and notifying Joey of outcome. Minimum 5 days for Joey to request appeal. A few days deciding whether to accept grounds for appeal. Minimum 5 days notice of appeal hearing. A day or two deciding appeal and notifying Joey. Answer: About 6 weeks total if they're on it. Could be a bit less. Possibility of Joey taking claim to higher authority.
Agree Belfast... but depends on whether MH sees the need to get rid. Let's not forget he's just offered contracts to Dire and Buz!!
I'm hoping those contracts can be put down to sunstroke. I firmly believe there's a serious credibility issue here for both the manager and the owners. The guy simply has to go but having to put up with this crap for another 6 weeks isn't a pleasant thought.
The Times is all over the place on this today, but has the internal investigation over within 2 weeks. Also, in the same article, quoting a source 'close to the board' it has variously Barton out of the 25 and training with the reserves; sacked; paid off; and contesting dismissal on gross misconduct. So they have just about all the bases covered in an incisive bit of investigative journalism.
I would imagine we are going to offer to cancel his contract immediately, he will need some time to consider. Then we will sack him and then the **** hits the fan. I hope its made public before the end of next week. Im hoping he takes the mutual cancellation as its better for both parties. He wont have to go through the indignity of being sacked which could hinder his future employment chances.
Bertie Mancini at Citeh spouted off about Tevez after he was meant to have refused to come on as a sub and the player fecked off back to Argentina to play golf for three months. When Citeh were on a charge towards the end of the season all was forgiven and he came back to play a pivotal role in winning the crucial last game of the season. Does anyone from Citeh give a flying fork about what he did now that they are champions? Maybe QPR have learned from the Citeh/Tevez situation as I note with interest that Hughes wouldn't be drawn on commenting much about Barton after the game and the club have been vague/cautious regarding any statements with the rather bland comments that have been posted on the website proof if needed. I can only hope that they are playing their cards close to their chests and that work is going on behind the scenes to work out a water-tight solution to the Barton issue. If they can't get rid of him at no or low cost then it is going to be about damage limitation and working out the sort of disciplinary case that would see his fine set at a rate that would reduce his ridiculous wages. I know some think the ban was harsh, that Barton has somehow been hard done by and that he should only be judged on his football ability but I can only see him getting into more trouble in future, even if he isn't the main culprit (e.g. Johnson from Norwich) and potentially cost the team a game & points which got us into the end of season strife in the first place. No decision will be made for a few weeks so all we can do is speculate.
Difference with Tevez is that he still had/has some transfer value. For City to sack him would have thrown that away plus their up front investment. We paid nothing for Barton except (probably) an agents and signing on fee. With his reputation he is worth less than the cost of his wages by a mile. If we can get rid without full pay off of contract we are up on the deal.
Nice thought but football is the only industry where people can fail abysmally and then walk into another job with no questions asked. Think of the Gary Megsons of this world...
or the people who get a club right after coming out of prison. It depends if he wants to go somewhere where he is wanted or do a Vine. I just read a report that says we want to sack him but dont have the grounds to. So we either pay him and let him rot in the reserves or pay £11m for him to go away. Id let him rot and train on his own, I wouldnt let him near the kids.
