Stop acting like a cock Jayram

I'm saying he's a crap pundit, but he still knows more than you.

I'm not going to get drawn into your 'You said' bollocks, because it's bollocks <ok>

2. Its clear what you said - your arrogance knows no bounds. 423 games and 99 goals for Arsenal, played under our current manager and you think you know more than him<laugh>.. Let me guess, the only ex players that know anything are the ones that agree with you <laugh> Extreme delusion of grandeur.

Anyway, I don't think Merson (whilst a great player, he was never the sharpest tool in the box) offers much worthwhile insight into Arsenal these days. Players like Dixon, I have more respect for their opinion as they played for a number of years under Wenger and have a more recent insight into what's happened at the club. But that said, things change pretty quickly, players come and go and the club is constantly evolving.

4. I think the insight he gave at the end of last season , for example, was pretty much spot on.

And yet in another red top rag a few months later he said this:
Before George Graham came in we regularly finishing outside the top 6, and yet he thinks that finishing 3rd and playing champions league football, will equate to being in the 'dark ages' playing in front of 18,000 at Emirates.

Like I said, he might know more than you, but he's still a crap pundit <ok>

6. You might want to take heed. Were were poor this year and were lucky to get 3rd. 6th was a real possibility. We dont have to slip much further to be 6th 7th - we're certainly on the right trajectory. As for 18k fans - no dont agree with him on that, but not arrogant enough to say that means I know more than him.

You really are deluded if you think yo do <ok>

Some personnel may have changed but you are assuming a) they all have and b) ex players severe all ties to the club, I am pretty sure there are many current Arsenal employees who speak to ex players through friendships nurtured from years at being at the club.

Take heed of predictions that we'll be 6th and playing in front of 18,000 ?
We finished 3rd and our home games were in front of 60,000 fans. Mers is entitled to his views - I don't share them.
and for the final time, I didn't say I think I know more than him, I said he's a crap pundit, but he still knows more than you <ok>

I think you're right. I'm sure there are ex players with strong links to the club still. Just not all of them. Given by some of the ****e Stuart Robson spouts, you can only assume that he's got an axe to grind with the club, instead of him making out that he's 'in the know'.

Does he still do tactics for the website ? I find it astonishing that he speaks about us in such a derogatory manner if he's still involved with the club.

Merson does talk a lot of nonsense, but to say he doesn't know the current workings of the club because he hasn't played there for years is frankly absurd. Of course he knows, he is still in the game and he has his contacts. do you think he would be refused access at London Colney ... or that he would need to have an appointment to go to the offices at the Emirates ??

I've been to London Colney with my buddy and saw the latter part of the training session the 1st team were having. I sat in the restaurant with the players while they ate, if I could do that because I knew an Arsenal schoolboy I am pretty sure Merson could do a lot more.

11. I think you are coming across a right cock. What with your claims of knowing more than a manger who has won the title in this country for our club, you really are the most deluded individual I have ever heard <ok>

I don't doubt he still has connections with the club. What I'm saying is that he talks a lot of nonsense about it though.

Yeah but I am talking about Merson, Wrighty, Smudger and Vieira for example - there is no doubt in my mind that they all still have their connections, close connections so they will know whats going on at the club at a far more accurate level than the general media.

Like I said, I think some ex players like Dixon give a fairly balanced insight into the club. They understand intimately what it was like to work under Wenger and his methods, so I think he's better equipped to give an analysis based on some experience.

Robson still does 'talking tactics' for the website, but some of his commentary about Arsenal is poisonous.

I'd agree with that. But I do think Merson is out of touch judging by his comments. Wrighty is paid to be controversial in the red tops. Alan Smith usually gives a fairly good insight - the Spuds hate him commentating on their games <laugh> Vieira is an interesting one, he's obviously still got a big connection with Arsenal, but his role at City is his primary concern now. I was gutted that he didn't come back in some guise with us.

19. That Bergkamp guy played a few years for us. He thinks we lack a winning mentality too. Does he know what he is talking about?

Actually he didn't say we 'lacked a winning mentality' he said “Sometimes you need more of a winning mentality than a passing mentality,”
But I would agree with the sentiment of what he said.
