Nelson, Basong, Bentley, Pienaar, Kranjcar (despite being an ex-skate) & Saha would all be decent acquisitions to provide us with some much needed EPL experience. I'm sure they will all be on decent wedge though!

Realistically, Bassong, Jenas, Pienaar and Saha could all do a job. I personally would take the latter two for a combined £10million.

I'd pay £10m for Pienaar alone. Quality player. We couldn't get him though. Bentley and Jenas would be realistic.

Would love Pienaar but it won't happen.

Nelson is past it, so i'd pass on him. As the others have said Pienaar would be class.

Indeed to the Pienaar class remark but its extremly unlikely. Also now we have WHU likely to be going for any players like Pienaar which the likes of we may be interested in. And you can bet your house they will pay over the odds unlike us. Even with their financial difficulties.

I'd happily take Bassong and Pienaar. None of the others.

Pienaar and Saha for a Combined £10 Million. Or Pienaar £10 Million alone. You having a laff? Pienaar £4 Million at Most, Saha probably about £2.5 Million. Bentley swinging in crosses would be class, Dos Santos would do a qual job as well, and even though Jermaine Jenas is more injury prone then Killer Svensson, still a class player.

No way. That may be a fairer valuation of those players, but I think you're forgetting how inflated prices are in the Premier League. They'd only go that cheap if Spurs were desperate to offload them, which they are surely not.

The trouble with Saha is that he suffers a bit from 'Jason Puncheon Syndrome' ie. brilliant for the first few games but then absolute cr*p from that point onwards.

Good thing is it shows there is the chance to bring in Premier League experience in every position, and not just from Spurs. (Not thinking about wages/competition etc..!) I'd take Bassong, Kranjcar and Pienaar out of this lot. Bentley once looked like he may be awesome, for whatever reason now he looks dross. Slow too isn't he?. Anyway, since he'd be the most likely player we'd bring in I'd hope it's just being at the wrong club.

Dos Santos has been really good for his country and I think he would be good for us.

If they are not good enough for Spurs why should they be good enough for Saints?? Thanks but no thanks! I don't think these guys would exhibit enough hunger!!

Your right Ides of March, this lot wouldnt improve Southampton at all.

Finishing top 6 next season are we? Might be worth a 50p bet then

Firstly, they would command a huge wage! Secondly, having tasted the limelight with Spurs would they have the same level of motivation with us - that I doubt!! Thirdly, some of them are past it (Gallas), are error prone (Gomes), injury prone (Saha, Jenas) or just big-headed (Bentley). We might be able to get players with the Premiership experience and who feel they have something to prove from the relegated clubs - Jarvis, the Yak, the Bolton keeper as back-up (?) if that is in Nigel's thinking!!
