Blackpool striker Kevin Phillips has said he will retire from football at the end of next season. Phillips, 38, activated a clause in his contract to remain at Bloomfield Road for a further year and announced his decision at the end-of-season awards. He scored 17 goals for the Tangerines, who missed out on promotion to the Premier League on Saturday, in 2011-12. Daniel Bogdanovic, Matt Hill and Stephen Husband are all set to leave Blackpool this summer. Phillips, who has scored more than 250 career goals and won eight England caps, is one of 13 players that have had the options taken up on their current deals. ......................................................................... One more season............ Legend, that is all.
Just gutted they lost play offs so won't see him at SoL next season. Need to keep fingers crossed for getting them in the cup...................
Still wish his last season was with us. Even as an impact sub he would make a difference. May lose the pace, but he will never lose the class and being in the right place at the right time...
testimonial??? but i want them in the cup and i still whould like us to sign him on a player/coach deal
Would also love him to move down here and play for the Perth Glory. If you're reading this Sir Kev, please come down here. We have cake.
He is and always will be an SAFC legend, and I'm sure we will see him at the SOL in some capacity in the future...
