He's ok - if you need someone to continually head a ball two miles up in the air or if you want a tank lumbering around in your defence. But we have enough CD options now, even if Mapps leaves, and most are a lot younger so no thanks.
We don't need any more Sh*tt* types. Spine of experience is there apart from maybe a bit of experience up front instead of Garner and a keeper, other than that building should be with younger players who can develop, some to be sold for a profit to keep us afloat, remember the reality of our model unless you're into higher gate fees or somehow bigger attendences..
apparantley we are after Dean Lewington a left back for MK ding dongs , Millwall are in the race for his signature as well
You have just reminded me of when Aidy used to tell ****tu to play upfront in games where we were struggling to score. Jeez that was embarrassing!!! Hull away when we lost 3-0 anyone?
Id rather have Scott Laird on a free from Stevenage TBH. Lewington is very ginger, too giner infact as his hair would clash with our kit.
He could be a secret weapon. Opponents would laugh so much at his gingerness we could score lots of goals.
I'm enjoying most of the "My season" interviews on the club website. Obviously there's a fair bit of pro-Watford spin in there (as there should be), but they're being reasonably forthright about things that haven't gone so well, explaining both sides of it. Buaben for instance is very honest that he was disappointed to only start 22 games, and that he felt weird not playing in the middle. But he is equally honest in saying that it's his fault that he started pre-season two weeks late, and points out that he would always take playing out wide over not playing at all. He also acknowledges that dropping Eustace is a very big deal. For an official site that's actually fairly candid stuff. Think back five or six years. Could you imagine Aidy Boothroyd allowing Al Bangura to even faintly suggest through the club website that he wants to start more often?
I've always assumed that Scott Laird is one of those myths that they talk about on radio but doesn't really exist. Like Jure Travner, or the FA's strategy.
If we ever did sign Scott Laird, it would be the final straw for Derek Payne - foreign names is one thing, but two players with similar names is quite another.
If we had any doubt that Mapps was going in the Summer, this should confirm it.. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9721718.Mirfin__is_going_to_stay__at_Watford/

So far we know we're playing Borehamwood, Wealdstone, St Albans and Wycombe...no disrespect and all that but...not sure these are good practice games, are they? Thank goodness for the testimonial!
