Just having a bit of banter with a Millwall fan, and this game got brought up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULOOheC5sgQ Anyone else remember that game and Gunny's amazing saves? Anyway, what's everybody's favourite game pre-Premier League?
I will plump for an amazing defeat - Coventry City 5 -4 Norwich City in December 1977 I think. John Ryan missed a penalty in the last minute for 5-5. There were at least 2 disalowed goals and also woodwork peppered throughout. Amazing day. Norwich City 3-3 Nottingham Forest I think the same year - Forest won the league and we were 0-3 down and got one just before the break. Beat that!
Too many, Portsmouth is the obvious one. I also enjoyed the defeat of Sutton Utd at 8-0. But maybe most memorable for me is the 1-1 draw with Coventry back in 1988. I was 12, and match day mascot, and remember being stood next to big Brian Kilcline. My god that man was a giant, his thighs were bigger than my torso!
Norwich 3 - Derby 2 (for Jackson's goal and the immortal commentary, and the fantastic atmosphere) Ipswich 1 - Norwich 5 (Best Beamback Event @ Carrow Road)
I'd probably go with that as well JWM. Was sat in th South stand and had the perfect seat to watch the ball as it left his foot. You just knew it was going in.
