    Defoe admits Spurs dilemma
Striker wants regular playing time at Spurs
    Last Updated: May 22, 2012 3:30pm

    .
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe says he does not want to leave White Hart Lane but has reiterated he is desperate to play regular football.

The 29-year-old netted 11 goals for Spurs in 23 appearances this season, which was enough to earn himself a call-up into Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2012.

Nevertheless, Defoe has slipped down Harry Redknapp's pecking order, with on-loan Emmanuel Adebayor deployed as a lone frontman supported by Rafael van der Vaart, and the striker believes he is in a dilemma.

    Difficult
"It is a difficult one. I have never said I want to leave the club, all I have just said is I want to play," Defoe said.

"As a forward you just want to get some sort of rhythm and a run in the team. That wasn't the case towards the end of the season.

"I am going to concentrate on England and go to the Euros, then see what happens.

"The most important thing for me is scoring goals and that is when I am at my happiest."

No chance unfortunately. If he leaves Spurs then QPR, Fulham and West Ham will be all over it like white on rice

Holt over Defoe? Crikey. I may not particularly like the bloke but I reckon he is a definate 15-20 goal a season man we desperately need. Not that I think we will get him but if available we should be making an effort.

I'd take Defoe in a flash, and MON likes the whippets!

Highly unlikely, of course, but i'd back this.

People would rather have Holt over Defoe????....the world has gone mad.

Completely different types of player but Defoe is in a different class to Holt.

They'd make a fearsome pair though

for me no, with the club seriously looking at the fair play rules, there will be no chance of us spending big money on a player over the age of 27 let alone someone approaching 30 as there is no resale value. The lad's wages would also be to much for us anyway and he doesn't really fit the mould of a MoN centre forward.

As for Holt I aint decided, the lad is getting on and has had 1 good season, that says a canny bit to me, plenty of players have a good 1 off season, look at Beckford last year at Blackpool. Holt is a no for me at 5-6m, there is better value for money oversea's.

I'd happily have him, but he isn't coming so there's no point getting excited.

Not overly convinced by Holt and his antics around getting more money - we've had a few of them over the years and they usually end in tears - for us!
