Shouldn't we start protesting if this is the case? Why shoot the messenger, the board needs our full attention starting with Lord Harris of Peckham!

I agree <ok> I think we need a change of Chairman. And I think that person should be David Dein.

  7. Whilst I agree we need Dein back, some of the pure speculation used here to make outrageuous claims to exonerate Wenger from any blame is truly laughable. Back to poor old Wenger doing a brillinat job despite all the obstacles <doh>

I hear that it was Hill Wood who made the call to take OXO off against Utd. It's been HW who has insisted on Ramsey playing.. Its HW who injected Cesc with Barca DNA and made him want to go home... funny how HW was ok when we were winning stuff with GG and AW.. perhaps his dealings were not so disruptive then, so all the credit of course has to land with.... drum roll.... why Wenger of course!

    What utter baloney!

  8. The only problem here is I think Hill Wood has done a brilliant job negotiating to keep and sign players at all levels like Vermaelen, Szczesny, Wilshere, Arteta, Podolski recently, Song, Walcott, Vermaelen, Koscielny. He's kept us in the top 4, and if we replaced him we would end up like Liverpool... <whistle>

Who said we're making excuses for Wenger. He clearly has made managerial mistakes over the years. But if the article is anything to go by, there seems to be a fair amount of corruption at board level which is affecting Wenger's purchasing power. I'd rather still have Wenger than some poncy Lord of nowhere making decisons....

  10. Its amazing how quickly some jump onto an article written by a single Swedish Gooner who clearly hates Hill Wood. Nothing in the article is substantiated.

Its been said repeatedly that Wenger runs the football affairs of the club, but now all of a sudden its Hill Wood pulling the strings <laugh>

Until we stop pretending that Wenger is doing a brilliant job in the face of all these things he apparently has no say in, we will not change.

There are plenty of things that we don't know about happening behind the scenes. What this article highlights is not everything Hill-Wood says is the truth and his decisions have affected the way we're run nowadays. This was different when Dein was in charge when we had an abundance of top quality players in our squad. What have we got now? RVP, Sagna and the rest good to average/potentials. Sad really.

I find it difficult to disagree with Jayram. Wenger has made far too many baffling decisions on the football pitch for him to be exonerated.

Don't think anyone is saying that Wenger hasn't made mistakes, that's not the thrust of this thread. It's about the unhealthy influence that Hill-Wood has over the board, and the long term effect that has on the success of our club on the pitch.
