City Diary: Secret bidder walks away from Portsmouth deal British financier, Brett De Bank, was set on putting the pomp back in Pompey. But his bid for Portsmouth FC was blocked by major creditor Balram Chainrai. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...t-bidder-walks-away-from-Portsmouth-deal.html Trevor Birch has said all along that he would be the one to sell the club - as he is in-de-facto the owner of PFC - so this story doesn't actually ring true at all. What do you think?
I thought you were messing about at first, Brett de Bank-Break the Bank. Is that his real name!? They all wee in the same pot, as far as I'm concerned.
Great name. If this is correct, than Chainrai's even more of a cock than previously thought, methinks.
Just one thing though - Chanrai doesn't own the club so it isn't his to sell, negotiations would have been with Trevor Birch.
the bid would form the cva and as BC is a major creditor he could just refuse the offer so the negotiations to make the cva work would have to go through him!
Well it appears that there is some history here with De Bank formerly being linked with an attempt to purchase Coventry City. Whether it is true that the bid failed because he was behind with his car payments has yet to be proved
Apparently the bidder walked away as Balu demanded £18 million for the stadium, upfront. However, the stadium was valued at £5-6 million
