Whilst Capello may not be my first choice, you have to remember that his win % for England is amongst the highest. Not only that, he has won pretty much every domestic trophy and in different countries. The man is a proven winner and I don't think his tactics are that bad. We saw how good England looked when he first arrived. It may not be pretty, but if he wins, then fair enough, just as long as we can establish ourselves as a top side again. I would see him more as a short term solution though.
Neither do I mate, but it's got to the point where we are seriously behind. Finishing 8th is a joke. I think Cappello could at least instill the winning mentality to get us started and back up the table. This will pave the way for a younger manager to come and make the changes for the long run. But I do stress - Capello is not my first choice!
Why? There will be at least eight clubs battling for top four when FFP kicks in so finishing eighth won't be as much of a reflection on a bad season. And we were in a transition season. Where would Chelsea have finished if AVB had been alowed to continue his rebuilding? Probably nearer 13th, like we've never finished but Utd have. The stink about finishing eighth in the media was the joke to me. We'd made Europe. There's very little difference between fifth and eighth under those conditions. Once top four was gone the players were never going to be as driven, nor should they have. That's a waste of resources when we had two cup runs to work on. Finishing eighth was nowhere near as big a joke as Utd going out of the CL to Basle then out of the Europa to Bilbao. But did the media harangue Fergie about only managing a decent league run and being humiliated in Europe? Did they question his backing of the Glazers as their squad erosion caused that humiliation? Did they heck as like.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha: it finally happened! The evening standard has linked us to Harry Rednapp. I take it back FSG, you have created the biggest piss take on the British media in a long long time. Christ the journo's are getting desperate.
John Barnes? John Barnes today urged fans to support whatever decision the club make in appointing a new manager and outlined why he believes the time is now for Liverpool to develop a long-lasting football philosophy that will set out a blueprint for success.

What interests me, is how no-one is talking about Rafa. IF the rumours are to be believed, well if we are giving each rumour an equal chance, Rafa is also in line to talk to Fenway, yet every press story only list Martinez and AVB, and now adding Arry and Capello.. No-one seems to think it is worth including Rafa in the list, he's not as old as Arry or Capello, way more success than Arry. Just strikes me as strange that he is flying under the media radar a bit. Half the fans want him, but he just doesn't make for good stories apparently...
LFC fans want Rafa back - it's hardly an exclusive, therefore papers won't publish it. It's sad that they would rather conjure up ridiculous stories in order to sell papers. Journalism is going downhill.
