    7. Manchester United’s total of 89 points is the highest recorded in a Premier League season by a team who didn’t win the title.
    8. Liverpool’s total of 52 points is their worst ever in the Premier League.
    9. Tottenham earned more points from London derbies than any other side this season (14). Their final total of 69 points is just one point fewer than their best (70 in 2009-10).
    10. Only one player has scored more goals for a relegated Premier League side than Yakubu's 17: Andy Johnson (21 for Crystal Palace in 2004/05).

    12. Liverpool are the only top-flight team to have lost every away game they have fallen behind in this season (10 in total).
    13. Arsenal have recovered more points from losing positions than any other team in the Premier League (24).

Thats just awesome! However, if a player creates that many chances, surely it is the attackers to blame for not getting on the end of some of them...?

Exactly. How is Downing supposed to get assists when the strikers aren't scoring more than 90% of the time?

  6. I have always said you can't blame a winger for a lack of assists if he is getting in the right position to cross or actually putting the ball in the danger zone. It takes two players to make an assist! It would help had we had players actually in the box too. Mind you, Downing should also look up to make sure someone is there too.

if you do the math.. .55 chances made and a strike rate of 10% means he should have had 5.5 goal assists. the fac that he actually made none is a clue as to how poor a chance gets recorded i guess.

  13. Or, not many of the 10% we converted where from crosses...

(I think Downing is **** but not as bad as these stats suggest)

'if all shots were goals Liverpool would have finished third etc'
Stewart Downing would have also scored 72!?
I don't quite understand the first statement, or am I being thick?

  15. I think it just means Liverpool had the third most shots. Or, in even simpler terms: only Chelsea and Man City had more shots at goal than Liverpool <ok>

i thought it meant that if every team had scored every shot, then wed be third. But thats sa bit silly as it would have meant that Downing scored 72

Also chances created by Downing aren't exactly pinpoint, perfect crosses. They're usually over the area or don't clear the first man, so those 55 were more like 35 realistically good chances.

I think your being kind to be honest, I would be suprised if half could be considered a good chance. However I have a little sympathy for Downing as I don't think our style or forwards really play to his strengths or how he has been effective in the past.

I always see crosses way to high, way to fast, or way to earlier for Carroll to put on target.

    Or

No one in the box for a decent cross.

Maybe its just a communication issue. Our strikers and wingers are on a different wave length.
