When looking at the striker situation at Chelsea, it's easy to see that some serious changes may be in the works regarding their forwards. Drogba may/may not be returning, Torres is making his displeasure known, Lukaku lashing out at AVB today and keeping quiet about DiMatteo.

Chelsea have already been linked with Radamel Falcao of Atlético Madrid, Hulk of Porto and Napoli's Edinson Cavani, meaning it would arguably take a change of formation to accommodate Torres in a first-choice lineup.

Sturridge?? Completely out of favor with DiMatteo. Considered to be defensively irresponsible and selfish in attack. But a proven goal scorer. Prefers Center/Forward to the right, but was playing on the right in a 4 - 3 - 3 formation. Visibly sulked and was verbal about his dissatisfaction when told he would not be used centrally. Hasn't really seen the pitch in any important games at the end of the season.

If DiMatteo stays, certainly Sturridge's future with the club would be in jeopardy.

Personally, I think he'd be fantastic for Sunderland. I think he would score 20+ goals as a featured attacker and his career could be rejuvenated. Proven to partner well with a player like Holt (if he happens to be brought in), which he demonstrated with Davies at Bolton.

Price and wages? Don't really know, but if they are reasonable, don't think Sunderland could do better this summer.

Wouldn't mind a front 2 of Sturridge & Holt mind...

£15million mark may rule us out, I know the Chelsea fans aren't keen on him either (for the reasons you mention).

Strikers tend to be selfish ****s, good ones anyway, so a bit of attitude and 20 goals will do for me. However, I think wages, location (usual one for London lads) and transfer fee are all huge obstacles we may not be able to overcome with the likes of Sturridge.

I think he is a very good player BTW. Very good.

He's a Brummie, actually, but your point still stands.

He'd be a cracking buy for a club like us.

Yes you're right of course about him being a Brummie and I guess my wider point was more getting a London based player out of the nations capitial to play in the provinces.

Can't see Spurs or Arsenal looking (or Chelsea being willing to sell to them), Manchester clubs don't need him, Liverpool, well they are in a state off the park, Toon have the best front 2 in the land (motherfuckers), Everton simply can't afford him....

If he moves, we have a shot. IF.

Wasn't he perfectly happy at Bolton? Clearly he wanted the chance to succeed with Chelsea, but seem to remember public statements of satisfaction from him while at Bolton (they seemed a little more sincere than those coming from Welbeck at the time).

Maybe being the featured goalscorer on a squad with top 8 aspirations would suffice?

Would love to have him here mate.

If we went for him, Holt, Diame & Hoilett, i'd be very happy.

He could come here and be a number one choice and play in front of 40,000 passionate fans week in week out and he would be richly rewarded as well. Playing regular football for SAFC, he may well have gained a place in Roy's England this summer, as unlike the Italian plank, he will be much more open to players form the likes of SAFC who are regularly playing and scoring goals and England are not exactly blessed with that many good strikers imo.

If that's not a motivation then what is?

Agree with all this, possible exception being Spurs. If Sturridge became available, 'Arry wouldn't be able to contain himself.

But, he's not going to a Manchester club or Arsenal, true, that seems safe to say. Everton are skint. Liverpool can't get anyone to interview for manager, FFS.

    Honestly, why not Sunderland.

I honestly wouldn't see Chelsea selling to Spurs mate, that's why i'd rule them out.

We'd deffo have a chance, however slim, if he was to be moved on.

    Sturridge Holt
    Sess
    McLean Diame Hoillett

    **** yeah.

    Quick, direct, strong.

That is a front 6 full of goals.

Not to mention that Seb, Catts, Colback aren't even in it.

Would be a very nice thought lads but, everyone seems to be forgetting a move overseas for Sturridge which if I'm honest would probably suit him better than coming to us. Having said that I wouldn't be too upset if he chose us over anyone and as Cest says most decent strikers are greedy twats who rarely defend anyway so can't see that being a problem.

I can see chelsea using him as a makeweight for modric. Also, didn't mancini pipe up about wanting him back at city recently? So I really can't see that we have any hope whatsoever with this one...

Then he can go back to City and we'll have Tevez, Aguero or Balotelli.

    Winner.

They can keep Dzeko, he's a much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

talc, for some reason I seem to remember him dismissing going overseas. May be wrong. If he stays in England, moves on from Chelsea (no cert), then I don't see why MoN couldn't use his persuasive powers (and Short's cash) to take a serious run.

Unlikely? Of course. Possible? Why the hell not.

BTW, don't see Mancini being serious about him at all.
