Buz and Smith's goals in the home win v Wigan, the first of an endless string of 'must win' games, but reminded us that it was possible to win a home league game. Diakite's goal against Arsenal - arrival of a giant Taiwo's post match celebrations - arrival of a legend
The moment some minutes after the City game had finished when the BBC nett confirmed the game at Stoke had finished, and the draw there was confirmed. Only then did I truly believe our survival Mission was really accomplished.
Just from the thread title, already decided Mackie's winner against Liverpool before looking at thread. Very close second is Mackie against City - flying (Scotsman) header.
I think Jamie's flying header at City was the most surreal moment of the season, 10 men, lambs to the slaughter and there we were 2-1 up! If you'd scripted that whole match for a film you'd have had the men in white coats turning up!...
Cisse scoring against Stoke. I had been doubting our chances of survival for months (and 87 minutes) but after that we had a glimmer of hope, even though we didn't end up needing it of course! Sorry Bolton. Many close seconds but that would have to be the highlight. At least this is a short answer thread. Imagine how long the list of disappointments would be?! Losing 4-0 on opening game of the season, losing to Wigan, not knowing how we didn't beat the Toon at home, humped by Fulham, not getting anything from Citeh at home, Barton red card against Norwich, failing to beat Wet Brum and Villa, Cisse red card against Wolves, Clint's ghost goal at Bolton, the shame of Ashley Young getting Derry sent off, humped by Chelskum away, not seeing it through at Citeh despite it being one of the most memorable Premiership games I've ever seen for all the right and wrong reasons.
Adel's goal against Arsenal for me - we were not expected to win that one against a Gunners side that had won 7 on the bounce and we stuck it at them from start to finish.
For me it's Cisse's winner against Stoke and the celebrations that followed. It's definitely one of those 'I was there' moments. Mackie's winner against Liverpool is a close second though
I'm gonna throw into the mix: Cisse's goal at Aston Villa. Five minutes into his QPR career and he hits a wonderful goal across Given and into the far corner. That was a moment when we all realised we had a special striker on the books at last.
For me it has to be JM's winner against Liverpool. But I also look back on vital away wins at Everton and Stoke earlier in the season and of course Cisse's goal at the death against Stoke - this could so easily have been a where do you think we blew it thread, and those moments are too many to think of and thankfully count for nothing! You Rssssssssssssssssss
Mackie's goal v Liverpool. The following home results would never of happened but for that one moment.
What about Derry getting his first goal in 17 years the start of the fightback vs L'pool. My No. 1 Moment Mackie when he came on against Blackbum and nearly single handedly turned the game around he was spitting fire and passion that had not been seen for ages and the other players jumped on the back of it. You could see MH (stone face) was visibly impressed as the penny dropped and I think he played Mackie in every game after that and noticably extended his contract 1st.
The Liverpool comeback (without that wed have been down) and the Cisse goal against Stoke runs it close, at the time I thought we were down and that saved us.
Great Point and he nearly did it against Blackburn ... then after that he never gave up ... A lot on here claimed he should be sold .. up your arses he is a great player in the making
Your right Dave I can only see him getting better and better with best yet to come, couldn't really understand all that negativity earlier this season!
