we were like second in the form table wasn't we? KK got us right back up there and playing attractive attacking football. This left us all looking at a bright future.

Then came the season of 11/12 and up until Christmas we were in touching distance of top 4 and then 2012 started and then what??? We were in relgation battling form. What happened?

    Good point

I can understand Kenny being sacked but personally thought he deserved more time. We have played, without finishing the chances, some good football imo

The football was good and there was an element of bad luck, I agree that he should have been given the time to start next season and see if we could improve. Nothing we can do now though just hope that whoever gets the job starts well.

    Lack of goals.

    Suarez banned for 9 games.

    No Lucas.

Poor performances and poor tactics in certain games.

Gerrard not firing as we hoped he would on his return from injury.

Two cup finals being a distraction.

Not excuses just possible reasons. I still think the previous 12 months (relegation threatened to challenging top 4) should have given KK enough credits in the bank to at least be given a chance next season but it wasn't to be unfortunately. The biggest problem now is will the owners ever give a poorly performing manager time to turn results around.

Even with massive investment in players (which there won't be) any new manager must get rapid success whilst not having the lure of champs league footy. Its going to be a difficult task but let's see the direction the club decides to take. We better hope and pray its the right one <ok>

Rotten luck>>>panic>>>>>lack of confidence and belief. When you look at Chelsea's luck recently you can see what can be achieved, equally when you have the same amount of bad luck you get a proprtionate outcome! It's not everything but it's a massive part of it, Kenny must be cursed; to have that amount of bad luck and then to be sacked as well is unbelievable.

He also put alot of faith in our strikers and def mids to not buy anyone when everyone was worried about this. I do think a number of players let him down but I suppose thats part and parcel of the game

They said there was money there if we needed to buy but was there? Was it more of the case of the owners not wanting to let KK and DC loose with that cash?

    I dont know

    One name- Andy Carroll.

The amount forked over and what happened with that saga, him taking a long time to come good, I bet they were very cautious. I am sure if they said here is X amount go get your man they would have but I can see how they would have been worried about another Carroll type signing.

We bougth him for 35 but could have got him in the summer for 15 is probably what they figured out and were wary of that same mistake.

IMO from jan 11 there is one big thing... we got to a final. now suarez thing was there too but in reality i think a lot foguys beleived a bit of hype and honestly we started a lot of games sloppily, lazily and didn't bother.

just look at the goals we gave away to stupid errors we'd never make if we had our cup game faces on.. eg johnson flicking it inside and giving a goal away, in the cup he'd simply have hammered it down the line or back to the keeper.

    - No Lucas.

    - Shocking handling of Suarez left us open for attack from all angles.

    - Suarez missing.

    - Our strikers not doing the business

    - Players not of Liverpool standard.

    - Gerrard not up for it.

    - A focus on Cups, left an excuse for the players/manager in the league.

    - Apathy/defeatism amongst the squad.

    - Questionable tactics, substitution at times.

    - No investment in January.

    - A loss of confidence in the manager? Something not before mentioned.

In that spell in jan 2011 Kuyt, Maxi and Meireles were key players. Kuyt and Maxi have barely been used and Meireles left.

  14. Johnson was on fire at left back, Flanagan/Kelly were making a name for themselves and Gerrard was finding a bit of form too. Add Suarez hitting the ground running with opponents not knowing anything about him at the time too and there is a recipe for destruction <ok>

IMO, apart from Suarez, the players we have now are predictable. Having just the one unpredictable player makes it easy to defend against - keep things structured and make the opposition play through you, when the one unpredictable player gets it, double up on him and have cover behind them (although Suarez can still find his was through, it is limited)

New manager came in. That always improves performances, just look at Sunderland when O'Neill came in, or Chelsea when Di Matteo came in. Also the fact Kenny is a legend, and the players would have put in that extra 10%. This season though, the honeymoon period was over and along with a few other things mentioned above, we wen't back to being average.

I agree entirely with this! It must be said that there were just not enough players willing to take risks either, apart from Adam who was crucified largely! Whilst the signings of Downing, Carrol and Hendo made sense for various reasons I dont think any of them have the confidence or mentality, although to be fair Carrol has looked so much better recently. The others may also come good but I think all three for most of the season went into their shell, Carrol coming out of it recently. Even Gerrard was holding back, too many players leaving it for others to do, I know I keep saying it but you have to give credit to Adam because aside from Suarez and Bellamy nobody was more willing to look stupid or get things going than him!
