Hi Ok this is driving me nuts! I play FIFA 12 online H2H Seasons and always play as LFC. Can anyone explain why LFC team star rating keeps fluctuating between 4.5* and 5*????? It does my head in when we are 5* as you inevitably match up against some numpty using Barca or Real Madrid who are too strong for LFC (yes i know they are not unbeatable etc but as you get higher up the leagues (I'm Div 3) it can mean the difference a lot of the time.) The star rating seems to change from one day to the next - WTF is going on?! Anyone?
Do u use live season? That tracks player form IRL. if not then it could be to do with the squads you're using , maybe custom squads or something? :/
I can't help you out I'm afraid, but I did want to use this space to get things off my chest. I hit fantastic form with my newly promoted team, Napoli and reached Division 2 with ease. Then all of a sudden, the standard has risen to a stupidly difficult level. Lost the first 3 games, outplayed in the 4th but scraped a draw. This is all because of the stupid bloody tactical defending!

star rating is the average of the entire squad, so even if you have a great starting XI and sub bench but have loads of crappy youthes at 50/60 they drag down your rating. it's a bit useless really, it's all about the quality of the starting XI on FIFA, something which the stars rating doesn't take into account
Ahh.. so as those players form varies the overall average varies and could be pushing it over 4.5* to 5*?? That could explain it I suppose.... but that's sh!t !? Are you sure it's your entire squad? Reserves as well? Just thinking i could drop the bench to the reserves to lower my * rating maybe?

Im not sure exactly how it works, whether its first XI plus bench or entire squad but I was under the impression it was the latter
I only play online on Ultimate Team now. I play the game far far too much, I lose once in about 10-15 games online now, it's sad but still fun. Last time I played as Liverpool was before the January update, when we were 4.5 stars. It was boring, hammering people playing as Juventus in every match. Undefeated after a handful of games on H2H. Ultimate team is much more challenging and unforgiving online. I'm quite sure the star rating is influenced by the starting XI and the bench, but more heavily on the starting XI.
This is a good wa to bring your rating down though. Take 3 best players out and put 3 rubbish players in and your star rating goes down. Then immediately sub them back into the team when you kick off. Bit sneaky, and risky in case you get any injuries but it is one way of playing lower rated teams.
This is what is driving me crazy, Arsenal, Newcastle etc are all 4.5 yet we are 5*? UPDATE : I tried dropping all my 80+ statted 'star' players (Gerrard, Suarez, Reina etc) to the reserves and replaced them with very low (50's) statted players and it made no difference to the overall team rating? WTF is going on? Can anyone else confirm what * rating LFC have on their version? Grrr, Grrr and thrice Grrr!
