From his perspective it wouldn't make sense to leave for another 1 year contract, when he already has that much left with Chelsea. He will want a 2 year contract from Arsenal, and I'm not sure it would be wise of us to offer that to him. So the best option is to get him on loan another year.
No brainer - yes. Salary shouldnt be too much of an issue as the money bags clubs are probably not interested in signing him. Him and Arteta have been a breath of fresh air...older Premiership experienced players who have settled in instantly.
Chelsea wants to sell him, should be available for a million according to metro: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...nal-d-day-as-chelsea-push-for-transfer-answer It's up to Wenger now.
It' a no brainer, for a million he is worth it. The only problem is getting rid of the players we don't want.....
If wenger says no, then clearly there's something wrong with him. Yossi was excellent for us, and if he's only a million, thats an absolute bargain.
No, we've got enough dross on the books. Why do you think Chelski loaned him out? Maybe Wenger was desperate late last august but if that's our level now we're sunk.
Saw more than i cared to. At his age he's not what we need Basically Yossi is a Liverpool and Chelski reject and it speaks volumes about Wengers lack of ambition if he thinks he is the answer to any of our problems.
We will not find a better squad player for under 5 ml. so it is a no brainer. One of the better players this season. The guy cared about Arsenal more than some of our own players. I would give him a 2 years contract. He will not play every week, so there is no problem with his age.
Tuffnell, I don't agree with your analysis chap. Yossi was far from a bad player when he played for us and remember he hardly got a look in. He was very professional. He may be a reject from those other clubs but to be honest, he offers us something slightly different and although I was miffed when we signed him - he turned out to be a very shrewd deal. As a valued member of the squad I'd like to see him stay, for £1m come on ... he's gotta be worth it. Didn't we spend £2m on potato head ??? He suits our system.
I didnât like it when we first signed him as thought he was distinctly average as a player, however I as very wrong as he has been fantastic for this year and seems to have a good connection with Rosicky going. I was especially impressed by his determination to win the ball back and pressure the opposition. He seems to be a good header of the ball as well which really surprised me. To answer your question Piskie yes I would sign him, at bear minimum he is great cover and he versatile as a midfielder which is always good.
I thought he was only 250k. Which we got when we sold him. That's right, another club were as dumb as us... Benny-wise. Argh. What kind of statement is the club trying to make? If we want to challenge then he's not good enough for us. I like him as a player and think he's useful but should we want to finally pull our socks up and say "f*ck it, let's win this league" then we need to look elsewhere. We're spouting Hoilett/Benayoun/Gordon as potential signings. That won't win you anything unfortunately, at best it might make you slightly more competetive for 4th spot which we'll be fighting over against Liverpool and Spurs. Personally I want to see a complete overhaul. Out: Fabianski, Almunia, Mannone, Squillachi, Denilson, Diaby (waaah), Arshavin, Park, Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela. In (bearing in mind these are my signings and I control the purse strings): Baines - Not been shy about rating him. Gibbs I see as a risk with injury. Bosingwa - Free and better backup than Jenkinson. Would give Jenks time to develop at a sensible pace. M'Vila - Think he'd add real quality in midfield and shore up our leaky defence. Creative Midfielder - Been linked with countless players but I'd like someone who can start games with Rosicky pushing for a place rather than having Rosicky starting and bringing on Ramsey when all fails. Dempsey - Not a world beater but all round solid and would supply options all over the final third. Re-sign Theo and RVP. Should either dither then sell and replace immediately using all the money. For Theo I'd like to see us go for someone like Adam Johnson who's not getting much game time at Citeh. For RVP a good list was started yesterday. We should probably ask the Newcastle scouting system for advice though. -----------------Chessers--------------- -Sagna----Mert/Kos------Verm----Baines- -----------------M'Vila--Wilshere--------- ------- --Rosicky/Replacement AM--------- --Walcott----------RVP---------Podolski-- * My lack of a CB like Vertonghen was due to my potential signing of both M'Vila and Baines. With LB and DM covered I don't think we'd need him as we'd have 3 very good centre backs already and an able 4th in Djourou. Will any of that happen? No. We'll lose RVP and Podolski will be his replacement. The extra money we made from him will go into shareholders pockets. At best we'll sign that 13 year old from Birmingham (the one born in Sierra Leone). Disco.
Look, you moan about us not signing quality, but we need squad depth, something Benayoun offers. You can't expect to win a title with a starting 11, you need a good squad to win trophies.
The bench/reserves for that would be: Bosingwa, Arteta, Mert/Kos depending on who you chose, Gibbs/Santos, Song, Oxlade Chamberlain, Gervinho, Djourou, Coquelin, Frimpong and Dempsey. That's infinitely stronger than our current bench, as is the starting lineup. I'm all for squad depth. I think I've used the phrase 800 times in the last 24 hours. I like Benny, just think if we were to push for the title then we need better backups than him. * Forgot we needed a backup keeper. I'd buy one of them too!
This. Benny wouldn't be coming in to be first choice, but he's a much better backup to have than a lot of the players on the books at the moment. He wouldn't expect to be first choice either, which is great. He's an older, more established player who can guide and help the youngsters. Having Benayoun on the bench gives me more confidence than Arshavin, or Ramsey, or Diaby. I agree with all the players you want out JJ, but I *DO* think Gordon would be far superior backup to Chesney than Fabianski or Alumunia. He'd be a great second keeper, and wouldn't expect mega bucks after the last couple of seasons.
Yes I realised I'd missed out on adding a backup keeper. I like Gordon but am tired of injury prone players (hence finally 'releasing' Diaby). We clearly need someone. I'm not a simpleton, I understand about having backup players. Dempsey was my replacement for Benny and I think he's better than him in every department. Benny played only 19 games for us this season and I think our team is the poorest I've seen for a while. Next season at the very least we're hoping to get Wilshere back and have just signed Podolski so will that mean even less for him? Added to which he'll be getting older makes me wonder if it's worth it. You and Kyle seemed so upset by Yossi's ommision that you didn't notice the amount of new players I'd included. If my highly unlikely fantasy team were to come to fruition then we'd have another AM too which means even more competition for places. That's why I said no to keeping him. Meh, it's all a sh*tty pipe dream anyway. We'll be lucky to sign one or two extra players.
