Saying that the Romans crucified people has nothing to do with me accepting Jesus. My point wasn't solely about Jesus' crucifixion - I said that IF the Romans had records of him, one of the most likely to exist would be that of his crucifixion, as they were meticulous in their recording of the crucifixion of OTHERS. Edit: And yes, I understand that this is based on the assumption that he both lived and was crucified!
I didn't mean accepting Jesus as...you know. becoming born again or anything. The passion is the account of a miracle. if you don't accept his miracles, then you don't accept this account. You then can't cite it as an example of him not existing in any way shape or form.

Well if God does exist, I don't think he's a particularly friendly God. In Norse mythology, the Gods were capricious, selfish and often sadistic. People were merely instruments for their pleasure and amusement. And their subjects/believers eg the Vikings, were under no illusion otherwise. I'd say this view of God (if he/she exists) is more realistic than that of a benign, loving deity.
