1) I have no idea why Arsenal Fans have been on here laughing...Ashley cole picked up a CL winners medal to go with his FA Cup medal...Just a week after Toure & Nasri picked up theirPremier winners medals...hardly likely to go in RVP's plus column of reasons to stay at arsenal. 2) I have no idea why pool fans are so pleased...don't they remember a large minority of Chelsea fans chanting murders at the minutes silence for Hillsbrough? 3) I have no idea why people are complaining of chelseas luck or accussing them of buying trophies... They won the biggest club competition in europe and didn't cheat so deserve it...all successful teams have luck and money. To be honest Spurs are partly responsible for the premier League and the changes to the CL alone with Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool & Everton all of who pushed for the premier league to be formed in this way. 4) While I think we will probably lose some players ... Modric for sure... staying in the CL is not a guarantee of keeping them...since arsenal stopped winning trophies but stayed in the top 4 they have lost Cole, Henry, Cegan, Toure, Nasri, Adebayor and fabregas (all have had success in their new clubs) and could well lose RVP this summer...Previous to this they rarely sold a player unless they wanted to. 5) I think that we will have a continuing Harry for England problem after the euro's so we may need to change managers in order to get stability...personally I like Redknapp but he clearly wants the England job and the press and media clearly want him...they've already sharpened their knives. 6) I'd sell any player that demands to go...As soon as the going got tough this season Modric disappeared...great player but he wants out and won't/can't bust a gut like he used to... 7) since 05/06 we have come 5th, 5th, 11th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 4th....anyone remember the positions prior to that? 8) We are well run, our wage and transfer bill are very cost effective and not based on CL income so financially we have no problems. Chelsea winning last night cost us CL football, but to be honest if we'd got 1 point more in that 11 game run we'd have come 3rd on gol difference so that's what cost us in truth. My main issue of the Chelsea win (apart from it knocking us out) is that John Terry got to lift the CL trophy...he epitomises everything wrong in football.
This reason alone is enough to rile us Spurs fans that Chelsea won, let alone losing our CL spot. Sometimes there clearly is no justice in sport.
i dont agree to point 7...sorry for having ambition......i cant gee my team on to suceed but whenevr they fail just say 'oh well' look where we once were...for me that is no solution. point 8 i agree with..however if thats the case then lets some of us stop mentioning the likes of Liorente,Hazard etc etc etc and stick to trying to get Yakubu...you cant have it both ways..if some of us as fans always use the excuse that we are punching above our weight then no point expecting such players to join us.
Thats prob were our main issues is. Look at the recent winners of the premier league. The recent winners/finalists of the champions league. Are they well run financially? free of debt? wage cap? could go on here. There us only so much we can achieve with how we spend on players, which is top five each year and if we manage to have a great season then top four. Anything more then this, needs a change in policy.
Seems Loserpool piggyback other teams success these days because they know they are utterly average and will not win anything (of value) again for a long long time.
I'd like to expand on point 6, Modric was not the only big name player to not turn up in a big game...none of them did. He does everything else you want from a MFer....but win you a game with a late winner, or an assist an idiot couldn't miss, the same can be said of our forwards. Despise them all you like, Chelsea have big players that turn up when you need them too, all the top teams have these players. It just doesn't happen enough at Spurs. A recent thread exposed this, "pick your best game of the season". Less said about the games v the top 3 the better! Toon and Pool were weakened in the 5-0, 4-0. So it leaves you scrabbling around trying to find a best game against mid-table opposition...to think there's idiots thinking we were in a title challenge! the fact we held 3rd for a time is as meaningless as being bottom after the first 3 games.
your spot on Notso..apart from all them games u mentioned.... i was bloody struggling and went for Norwich away...fukin Norwich away!!! and we wana be in CL League playing the big boys! laugh or cry...you choose. however we did hold onto to 3rd for long enough to be optimistic...yet here we are with no CL Footy..this season was just a headmash...everyone of us latched onto something to give us a silver lining be it top 3,fa cup...chelsea losing...yet in the back of my head i just had that feeling that we wont make it....because we just arent cut out for the next step. actually ill choose
A lot of that is in the player's own heads. If you don't believe in the back of your mind that you can win - you won't. On paper ( yes, I know) our best eleven is a match for anybody, except City. So, why can't we fulfill that potential? You can point to shortcomings in some personnel, and to some bizarre selections, but ultimately, once they cross the white line, it's down to the players. We need to believe a bit more, and learn how to not just accept defeat, but keep fighting until the final whistle goes.
We did fight against City and almost beat the league champions. I see in the gossip column that Spurs fans called Saha and Piennar a disgrace for congratulating Chelsea on their win. This sort of crap from some of my fellow Spurs supporters is enough to make me quit the sport altogether. It's sport and the players are sportsmen and we should show the spirit of sportsmanship and congratulate Chelsea too. Yes it was lucky but what the hell, they did it and those who are bitter should just go and snivel to their mummies.
Possibly. However, there are far more occasions where we have simply rolled over, as against The Goons. As for Pienaar and Saha, I partially agree. But, it wasn't very clever or tactful to go onto such a widely used site and publicly congratulate the side that has just knocked your own team out of CL football. Apart from the inevitable torrent of abuse it was bound to attract, it's somewhat thoughtless, to say the least!
We gave the knocks ie to Newcastle and helped to send Bolton down so we have to take the knocks too. It's not the end of Spurs is it? For all we know Saha and Pienaar might have friends in the Chelsea team. The players don't see it the same way as supporters, for the latter it's war but not for the players. That's proved by the way rival team's players go to their rivals ie Gallas to us from Arsenal. Everybody should just treat it as the sport and the spirit of sport that it was conceived to be. Anyway to me it's history and Liverpool,Chelsea and City share the honours, let's hope it's us next season and have a good summer,I'm off to Italy and preparing for the cricket and the Olympics.....cheers all.
FAO OP The only thing I can think of that would have Liverpool fans have a go is the stuff you've been flinging at them all season from your lofty league position, that came back to bite your ass and now you cry because we can all agree that if you had got in you would be continuing to throw the stick and not crying like you are now because you didn't get in, in fact, it is all the boasting and wumming all season that now leaves you feeling impotent and angry because of the failure you were so sure would not happen.
Spurlock...fair point...it just seems some fans seem to forget what its like to watch a real **** spurs team. liverpool fans....my point is banter is banter...i think chanting murders during the hillsbrough minute silence is beyond banter therefore I dont get it....after all you turned down a massive donation from a comedy arsenal fan as an apology for saying far less insulting stuff. I aint sayimg its wrong I just dont get it....i get toon fans who some spurs wums have wound up taking the piss I just dont get the pool thing.

For me, the most important thing is to sort out 'Arry. He's only got a year left so offer him a contract extension. We're going to be doing some rebuilding this summer even if no one's sold and if Modric or anyothers end up forcing their way out, I want a manager who is committed to the club for the next 3/4 years, at least. I'd be more than happy for 'Arry to stay on but the damage the speculation has done shouldn't be ignored now England have a manager, we need to sort his future out as a priority. He's brought us some excellent moments despite just falling a little short at times and overall done very well so show him some loyalty and give him a contract that reflects that and demand the same amount of loyalty in return. If he can't give us that commitment for more than one or two years, I want someone new brought in who can give us a long term vision and see it through. We're in a sort of limbo beween being a CL regular and EL regulars at the moment and the coming years could be crucial for our performance over the next decade.
Spot on. Exactly what I was trying to say here. Not sure why but we seem to miss out on these players. VDV comes close, sometimes.
I agree. The limbo is strange. We don't seem to go in first for the likes of Jekavic, Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Pienaar*, Moses, Dembele, Dempsey, Hoilett. Yet we aim for Hazard, Rossi, Aguero, Llorente, Falcao etc. and don't quite attract them. * Yep, I know we have him, but for some strange silly reason it appears he's not fitting in to the plans.
to be honest, I'm a Liverpool fan and am gutted the Chavs won. Gutted for you guys, a few of your fans are twats on our boards, but got nothing against your club. You put the work in and should be in the CL.
