Very, very disappointing, why its not i am wanting us to be a super passing team, but we can not pass a ball a yard, today from back to front we were rubbish.Shawcross has a bad match today, when the ball goes,in our box,we panic. And if you think that midfield is good, shoot me.We only looked a bit better when Jerome came on,got to have a massive clear out, including back room staff.

In Black and white it dont look too clever Smithers .. the need for progression etc...
but maybe longer runs in cup comps and travelling throo Europe took its toll !!
Cause since Jan Feb time it certainly looked like it had !
There really have been some painful performances since the turn of the year .
WBA lost and outclassed by none other !!
Sunderland Feb lost but should of been pp
Swansea win by god it was boring
Norwich win just did enuff against a side very similar to ourselves very workmanlike
Man City draw amazing goal lifted a dour game
Wolves win just about got over the line against what can only be described as a very poor outfit indeed
Arsenal draw o how we love Arsnil !! this 1 was box office but not for footballing reasons lol
Everton draw poor game again scraped a draw
Bolton draw wow what a finish !!! against another doomed side

I felt like you needed a reply Smithers so i got tappin away lolol

So this season is our worst of the four. The Europa League experience was a new adventure, and was enjoyable for the fans. PL results were affected early on with away defeats following Europa games. The FA Cup was reasonable though I think we should have done better vs Liverpool in second half and held on for a replay. The biggest disappointment was the Premier League for during 2012. We were sitting pretty and looking like hitting 40 points much sooner than we did. Then when we did reach the magical target, we hit a run of form which, quite frankly, was relegation form. 50 points and a first top-half finish were more than achievable IMO. Instead we finish on 45 points in 14th place and just one place above Wigan who for most of the season were in the bottom three. So the 5 relegation-threatened teams and a very poor Villa side were the only teams below is. However "this football club has played some 59 games this season"

    Progress? I don't think so!!

Yeh your right, a few extra games in the cup runs and Europe ultimatley paid its price. There have been some good and some some spirited performances this season but at this level I dont think you can rely on trying to grind results out by being a harder working team than the opposition. Eventually it takes its toll.

What can I say apart from we stayed up WOW! Apart from that I agree with Crazy? half at least of that team ain't anywhere near good enough. Can Whelan/Deano and Co pass water without HELP? I think not. First 20 mins I thought this is gonna be good... what a let down that turned out to be.
Ryan imo literally **** himself every time the ball got to him.. as for Shotton uck me? and Pulis thinks the lad is a winger. Who's stupid? Us the fans for paying to watch that crap or the guy in charge.

I think thats the point that makes it hard to defend the situation. TP ultimatley put together a squad to compete in those competitions and he new how many games he potentially had to play. Fulham have played a similiar amount of games to us and Birmingham have played 60 odd so for me its not unsual and we should have been prepared. I think if he felt that we couldn't compete on all fronts for the whole season he should have prioritised which comps were important - for me that would have been the Premier League and Europe.

I dont think anyone would have minded a second string team for the cups if we played well in the prem and continued the Europe campaign - Valancia was winnable!

A very very poor season and certainly the worst since we were promoted. A lot of people seem to use the Europa cup as a kind of excuse, but wasnt that why we strengthened the squad?. 4 years on and £90 million later and its our worst season performance wise, IMO the time is right for TP to step aside, but it wont happen, so its going to be a ****e season of the same dross next year...................I cant wait,,,,,,,,,,,

  17. July/August
The season started in July out in Split and the return the following week at the Brit. The tails were up with the 1-0 win in Split.

Now came real stuff and the Premier League opener against Chelsea and the first game for Andre Villas Boses, or AVB is easier! Terrific rear guard performance helped us earn our 1st point of the season. No mean achievement.
Then it was off on our travels again to beautiful Switzerland and Thun. Another Thursday game and another 1-0 win. So on the Sunday we were off east to Norwich, one of the three newly promoted teams. Norwich had looked good in their first game at Wigan and achieved a point if my memory is correct and I was feeling nervous about this game! Without playing well we were fortunate to equalize through KJ. So the home game against Thun resulted in us scoring 4 goals and we were reaching the Group stages. The European tour could really start now!

So, on a positive note we were still unbeaten and next up were the Baggies. Sure three points there!

So at The Hawthorns we had to wait until the 89th minute for our latest sensation Ryan Shotton to literally snatch a late winner. In my view a debatable goal which could easily been disallowed. Anyway these things even themselves out over a season!
So after three games we have 5 points. Much improved on last year!

    September
Next up Liverpool and King Kenny with his side full of internationals ! Another battling performance and a Walters penalty following one of those many fouls that Carragher commits in his own area which he did not get away with this time! Soft penalty yes, but definitely a penalty! A great 1-0 win. 8 points now and flying!

Back on the European Tour now and off to Kiev and we thought we had three points until an injury time equaliser by Kiev! 1-1 still not bad result and one that could be crucial later on in the group matches!

Nine matches played and unbeaten as yet! Happy days

I will be back with more during the week as October the season begins to change!!
