http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ex-darlington-boss-joins-sunderland-1-4568372 FORMER Darlington boss Craig Liddle has taken up a coaching position with Sunderlandâs Academy after leaving the financially stricken Quakers. Liddle will work in a development coach role with Sunderlandâs full-time apprentices from June 11 as he reverts to a role with youth-team players. The 40-year-old endured a harrowing fourth spell in caretaker charge of Darlington this season as the Quakers slumped into administration and subsequently dropped out of the Blue Square Premier. But Liddle didnât want to remain as Darlington boss and was keen to return to his role as the clubâs youth-team coach. Sunderland have recruited the former Middlesbrough defender though and he will work with academy manager Ged McNameeâs team. McNamee said: âCraig is a fantastic young coach who will bring great knowledge and enthusiasm to our Academy scholars. âWe have all seen the passion Craig has for football over the years, especially recently at Darlington, and Iâm sure our young players will look forward to working with him.â
