So which clubs will want him?

I reckon pretty much every team from 9th to the promoted teams would be improved by him. IMO he'll go to Southampton or Reading, he doesn't have huge wages now so his demands won't be so high, he's got good Prem experience and their both teams on the up.

I can see this happening. To be fair he's a decent box-to-box player, nothing spectacular but was captain at WHU when he was only about 22 so must have something about him.

I can see Guthrie ending up at Everton for some reason. I'd like to imagine that Fellaini was NUFC bound but can't see it.

Reo Coker is ****ing garbage, I really hope we don't replace Guthrie with him. Diame would be my choice, imagine him and Tiote holding, absolute beasts.

Agree with this. I was one of Gootrees critics last season but this year he's played well. But equally, he won't be first choice when everyone is fit, so you have to respect his desire to play.

Agreed, good luck to the lad. Good player and will improve quite a few sides. Expect a bit of a race for his signature tbh, shame it didn't work out with us but respect his keenness to play every week.

I agree, one of the worst players in the league and perennially overrated.

Can totally understand why he's going. He's not really first choice and he always looks keen, so good luck to him.

I don't really rate him though. He's okay, but he often looks to me like he breaks up the shape of the team. (Just my opinion). Honestly would be more worried if Perch left.

Vuckic anyone? Meaning he has more of a chance stepping up to show his worth.

Saw Guthrie in his first game and he read the game well, held the ball well, and his distrubution was good.

He'll do a good job for somebody and I wish him luck.

Disappointing as I've always liked him and thought he was an excellent player to have in the squad. Probably good enough to play every week, but Cabaye has that bit extra. I don't begrudge him moving on, and I hope he gets the games he deserves.

Is this confirmed? I would be disappointed, I always rated Guthrie, although he never quite had the legs. I think Guthrie will have a great career in the championship, he's got a good head on his shoulders and knows how to play football, sadly he's just not strong or fast enough for top tier football. We should be keeping him to play in europe and cover, but he's in his prime and wants to play week in week out.

Pards pretty much confirmed it on his Radio Newcastle interview the other week, so unless he's changed his mind he'll be out. Fair play to him, its almost nice to see someone go for genuine football reasons for once. Like Pouch I've often had issues with him, but he'd vastly improved in his run this season, up to the point everyone else came back when he reverted to form and then got injured again. Either way he's not getting a first team place over Cabaye so if thats what he's after good luck to him.

Vuckic's position is probably at the head of the midfield three in the attacking position. He is a quality player though I agree, I'd say Abeid is more of a direct replacement from our youth.

If you swap the "pint" for "pair of shoes" then you have just regurgitated the line the missus said when I got home! I am one mean son of a bitch to be fair. Unless its the little one and the old finger wrapping situation!!

Influenced by money, surely not WP. <whistle>

As for Guthrie, I was never his biggest fan, not a massive critic either, if I'm honest I'm rather indifferent to him staying with us.
I do however think he would be good for a newly promoted side, or perhaps a team like Swansea.

Are you suggesting I can be bought, bribed or swayed by the old queens papers?

I always thought you were perceptive!
