He's certainly arrogant and smug, won't argue that one..as long as he remains doing as well as he is with us, he can be as smug as he wants in my book.

A toon v safc cup final would be the greatest thing ever, literally. (and the worst for the loser)

    Agree, I would love that.

Always wondered how that would be policed, it would be impossible!

I would like to think that would be a turning point, where we could show people that we could put the violent rivalry aside and show the northeast in a good light.

We can all dream, can't we?

It nearly happened in the 1950s.
We were kept apart in the semis.

Bit of an all round non story this. Handbags at 5 paces and things have moved on since then. The three legends live in the past and dredging up this old ****e (which was dealt with afterwards by both managers) is a complete waste of time. They both had their moments that day and were both disrespectful. But its a derby and the heat goes up. Big deal.

Legends is also a loose term - Horswill is a tit and McDonald is a pompous old bastard who can't see past his own nose! The only one of the 3 worth listening to is Slaven - that's why I don't any more - I listen to the BBC Radio Newcastle phone in with Marco - much better. more up to date views than the other one

Aye I think Legends is stretching it in Horswills case anyway. Living off being part of that famous cup run. I had a quick look on wiki (someone has been doing the usual altering - Pigswill is his name) and he only played 69 times for you! McDonald is an absolute bell end. One of those blokes who is just left with a lingering bitterness once his career has finished. Any legendary status he had with our fans went some time ago. His time doing that show has diluted any favour he had, and most people I know dislike the bloke. Quite an achievement to be that much of a tit really. 95 goals in 180 odd games, and still not really liked.

Bernie is alright as you say. You can tell he just sees fit to wind the other miserable ****ers up.

I did used to find the odd drunk caller getting all irate quite amusing but even that has worn thin.

Did they ever reveal what the whole dispute was about that saw him leave/sacked?

I had a bit crack with Gatesy in the metrocentre about 6 months ago and he said he was hung out to dry - wouldn't go into detail but the station **** on him from a great height from what little I could get from him - it was a much better show with him on

O'neill is definitely the better manager based on history, and has the better CV for sure. After Hughton was sacked, I dare say most Newcastle fans would have picked O'neill over Pardew.

Pardew is severely under rated and has been treat extremely poorly in the past. He must of thought it was going to be the same all over again when he stepped into the frame at Newcastle, only to find a stadium full of frustrated fans still angry at his predecessor's departure, and calling him a puppet manager. I feel very sorry for him, but it seems now he's getting his proper chance.

Hopefully Newcastle and Pardew will stay together long term.

Alex Ferguson is classed by many as the best manager ever, and he's spent the last 25 years at United, so if Pardew can keep this up at Newcastle long term, I see no reason why people can't start rating Pardew as a fantastic manager also, one that was previously not rated so.

Right now you'd have to say O'neill was the better manager, but if Pardew can keep this up then in the future... who knows?

Sometimes it's not about who's technically the best but which club is right for a specific manager and his style.

Both managers have had their bad moments.

O'neill can sometimes be a sore loser and makes ridiculous comments.

Pardew sometimes gets too caught up in the moment.

Pardew is an intelligent and sensible man, but he's also passionate. In a way he's the perfect manager for us. We like to see a manager/player that has that sort of fire in him.

Not going to lie I'd probably think Pardew was a knob if he wasn't our manager and doing such a great job - but since he is both of those things I really couldn't care less. In the end I just find it hilarious how much he winds up the Mackems ;)

He does appear smarmy and cocksure but is pretty honest and generally gracious in his post-match interviews at least.
