if it came to a choice between us and another club (assuming we were in for him) this would surely help. but wages and transfer fee wouldnt!

Is Greg Halford that good? I've never thought of him being capable of being in a promotion worthy team but maybe I underestimate him

Chipped in with 7 goals last season, 6' 4" tall plays RB or CB and friend of mine who was at the Leeds Portsmouth game said he had Becchio in his pocket, not sure how true that is as only one persons perspective of the game. The question should be - Is he better than O'Dea, Bruce or AOB

Have a look for him on Youtube - Some decent looking goals, a throw in that nearly cleared the penalty box it was that long and looks strong and half decent.

he sounds average from everything I have heard. I don't think having Becchio in your pocket is that much to boast about, I think we need to get rid of becchio in truth but thats an opinion thats not widely shared among leeds fans

7 goals from CB (i assume) is very good. He would definitely be better than O'Dea, can't imagine him being any worse than Bruce or AOB but I think a more relevant question is 'is he good enough to be in a promotion winning team?

Halford is powerful, quick and strong. He is excellent at right back and would be a superb addition to our squad. Really hope we can get him.

Decent player but miles too much of a jouneyman. He needs to settle at one club for a good few years. I bet he is on a decent wage and i doubt you will be able to pay that

Wages will be the problem as he was in the premiership before he went to Pompey where it is well documented they paid big wages

We could take any 4 excellent rated defenders from promotion winning teams and it would not necessarily mean that they were good enough to get us promoted despite their individual talents. Leicester and Sven were an example of that...

The question is does Warnock believe and indeed will he be able to mould them and their style of play into a promotion winning team. IF and it seems a MASSIVE IF we managed to secure Halford and/or Ward with the already secured Pearce it would be an excellent start to the team rebuilding process.

It doesn't matter how good Warnock is, the team is going to take time to gel, having at least two defenders who already know one another is a bonus because in defence you are going to be punished time and time again if there is that lack of understanding. We are also assuming Warnock is looking at Halford as a starting player, it could be that we sign players like Ward, Pearce, Hill, Halford, Bamba and with Lees we have choice and competition.

For me Halford can't be worse than Connolly, if he chips in with 7 goals, if he causes another defender to mark him at corners and free kicks and if he has a throw in that can clear the penalty box not alone reach it he is going to add another dimension and a threat to any team we play.
