We really know what he can deliver, and how to play to his strengths. With a good manager, we would also have a plan B for when he is not on the pitch. Just need to get a good manager.
Well we've been 'playing to his strengths' for months and 15 goals is all we could squeeze out of him. Just like Fryatt. Will get you 30 in League One but only half in the Championship. Not good enough, especially when you need to focus on him to get 15 goals from him. I bet Nugent would have got probably 25 with a decent strike partner.
I guess you paid too high a fee for him, put him on too high wages, and could not get the juice out of him. So we'll take him for £500k, pay him £7,500 per week, and you can cover the rest of his wages. Ta.
Assuming Leeds receives that net amount, i.e., not after agent fees, VAT, etc, the arithmetic of your idea is as follows: Transfer fee received 2,500,000 Transfer fees paid (1,000,000), (450,000) Balance 1,050,000 The balance would be the amount available to pay additional wages for 3 additional players, i.e., 350,000 per player or less than 7,000 per week each. Is that enough for this group of players? This article is on topic for this thread - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/146624-Transfer-Fees-v-Players-Wages-Soccernomics
Well yes. Trying to play it through for him to run on to which he's supposed to be good at while giving him 2/3 chances that a good striker would take each game. He's not good enough. You can have him. Like Proud has said. Playing to Beckford's strengths hasn't allowed Nige to play how we want. Bring in someone like Madine to play with Nugent. Honestly it's like we're playing with 10 men half the time with Becks. Nugent with a good striker will be something every Leicester fan looks forward too next season.
We felt the same pain with him. 1) Seems to need way more chances than many strikers to score, and 2) When things did not seem to go his way, it appeared that he would often sulk and stop putting in any effort.
Or maybe, Nugent is the problem and you need to get a good partner for Beckford. Have you thought about this?? Beckford with a good strike partner will easily get you over 20 goals in this league IMO anyway. Or alternatively you could just spend 1.7m on an unproven non-league player to replace a player who has proven to be capable of scoring in the PL
But it's not. Nugent has the heading ability, the work rate, the first touch, the pace, the finishing ability and the ability to play on the wing. I don't think i've seen Beckford run faster than Nugent. He always just jogs everywhere ****ing up every touch of the ball before running into the defender and giving the ball away. Beckford with a good striker will get you 15 goals, same as he has here. Nugent with a good striker will get you 25 goals.
Well I don't believe for a moment that we are going to make a move for him, wages would kill it even if he were given away - However if by a miracle he did join I can't wait to bump this thread when he scores a hat-trick against Leicester
Roberto Martinez wants Ross McCormack at Wigan Athletic Football Club. Although he has been heavily linked with the vacant position at Liverpool, Martinez is continuing to plan for next season at the DW Stadium. The Latics performed a minor miracle in avoiding the drop this term due to a magnificent late run, but the Spaniard would want to avoid such a tense finish again. Martinez wants to boost his attacking options, and it is believed he is prepared to pay £2million for McCormack, who is in the final year of his Leeds United contract.
£2m?! Fill yer boots. For someone that has one good season for every three **** ones that's a good deal.
£2m for Ross. Not an ideal start to our season. But I'd take it, especially with Somma on his way back & £2m to invest in new players.
And who will we replace Rosco with exactlly? Said striker must get 15+ goals a season & sign for an undisclosed fee (below 500k) and must be prepared to work for peanuts.
