My money is on the fact he left his 'Lucky Candle' burning in Liverpool and Carrol found it a month back, IMO like
Aye, Chilavert was a legend! There's another guy, Rogerio Ceni, plays for Sao Paulo, who has scored 49 in 450 games! That's one every 9 and a bit games from goal, unreal! There's rumours he's scored over 100, but as with Romario's '1000', there's no evidence!
I think the quality of the penaltys last night rules out your argument mate. Could any of these world class centre forwards have taken a better penalty? No. You pick your best 5 penalty takers and you pick them by ability, not position. Last night showed Chelsea done the right thing.
But the point is Messi , Ronaldo etc had the bottle to take it , they backed themselves to score , the fact they missed is irrelevant , they backed themselves. Just for the record Cahill a C/H was taking the 6 th penalty
For me, the argument stops when the penaltys are scored in the style they were. Correct decision made, best penalty takers chosen.
Came out today that Torres wanted to take one. Di Matteo wouldn't let him. Sky sports... Torres seeks clear the air talks. Stupid, stupid argument.
Torres, like many before him, have joined Chelsea. a complete mates club, Shearer would have fitted in. Outsiders not welcome. But you dont become a bad player overnight, And he did score some very important goals for Chelsea.
It was never an argument , the original post was reference the decline of Torres, no one on here can tell me he is the same player as he was in his first 2seasons at Liverpool , hence why he or his managementmDosn't have the confidence to allow him to take a penalty.
DI Matteo. Asked all the players, who would like to take a pen, then he decided Who, and in what order. if it was level pegging all the way through, Torres would have taken a penalty.............I think.
Interesting - here is the link http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/7767645/Torres-seeks-Chelsea-talks
The post has nothing to do with Cole or Luiz's ability/ bottle to take a penalty in a shoot out, it is about Torres decline and the fact either himself or his manager has no confidence in him to score from 12 yards
Torres lost the plot for a while. He has looked a lot better of late and I think that'll show next year if Drogba moves on. He'll then be the main man again. The injury problems set him back massively. This then coincided with a loss of form due to the injuries and a big money move. He has had that pricetag monkey on his back (like Carroll) and also the constant speculation that him/Drogba don't get on. Drogba made a big point of quashing this the other night. I have to say I think Drogba did feel threatened by him early on. It got embarrassing watching, he wouldn't pass to him. Maybe Drog is thinking of staying on there and his quashing of the rift rumours was a bit of preparatory work!
That's because he is thick as **** and ever so slightly touched! Great pen taker. I have to say Shola is one of the best I've seen (should have give him the ball Ba )
