British bands that were/are better than the Smiths: The Kinks, the Who, Cream, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Levellers, the Waterboys, Dr Feelgood.

Hard to look past the Beatles with their body of classic songs, innovation, legacy and for dragging the USA into the modern age (music wise).

I'm a massive smiths fan but wouldn't say they were the best British band ever. Rolling Stones, Aztec camera, Prefab Sprout, Style Council and the kinks are ahead of them - so 5th best ever in my book.......
FFS, the "I better mention The Kinks and / or Weller to remain cool" brigade continue. The Stones? The Who pissed all over them duds!
Not really - firstly the style council were around at exactly the same time as the Smiths and second lots of people who want to come across as cool would also mention the Smiths.
It's always this ****ing off of The Kinks and therefore the mini-**** off of The Modfather which bores me. I could name at least 10 songs by The Smiths which piss all over anything these over rated cants came out with.
