He used to race his uncle Ayrton, not sure you can get better quality opposition than that, but you're right, natural ability is great, but without any idea of how to put that into a race winning performance it's wasted. Young Bruno seems to have had the advantages early, until his dad died and his mum barred him from racing for years. The closest comparison I can think of is Hill, who just didn't have the money to race after his fathers death, (Villeneuve still had his uncle who was a CART driver, and the finances).

On a positive (I think?) note, this Senna has survived three races at Williams.

It has the ring of a Sun exclusive, completely made up speculation based on Bottas's performance in FP1 without any credible input from anyone actually involved within the Williams team.

 I loved that autosport quote from Frank Williams, as you can see below, but I was very surprised to read of him using words like '****er' and 'dosh', doesn't sound much like him at all, though I'd love to see it. ;)

I'm glad the Williams team came out to quash that rubbish. Proves you're only as good as your last race

If we were talking about Schumacher I'd agree.

    Senna defending his drive

The Brazilian, who raced for the Renault team in the latter part of the 2011 season, is expecting things to be easier for him once Formula 1 competes at the tracks he raced on last year.

Anyone think Maldonado's win is affecting his driving?

What else could explain Senna's lack of form since Spain? Maybe the rumours of Bottas replacing him are affecting him as well?

I'm not Senna's biggest fan and for reasons I can't explain I like Bottas. Because of this you can imagine what my thoughts on the situation are.

This could be a possibility. I was surprised to see him going backwards this Sunday; it was surprising-he hasn't been THIS slow in the past

Don't know, but Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher have all won it before. :undecided:

the only justification i I can see is in the fractured nature of his career; coming into racing at quite late age

He qualified poorly at Spain itself though, even before Maldonado put it on pole. He wasn't doing that well in the race either, even before he had the chance to acquaint himself with a past winner of the Lorenzo Baldini trophy. <laugh>

It's odd because it's not just down to the type of track (given how the car clearly suited Maldonado better at Spain and has been a dog for both of them in Monaco and Montreal)... I wonder if Maldonado demanded extra support from the team given Senna's good form; but that would be cynical. Senna must improve. Fact.

Senna did quite well in Monaco but just had a bit of bad luck.

7 tenths of his team-mate in qualifying... he got a point I'll grant but still comparatively struggled (partly due to the lack of overtaking this year).
