The Mirror (and YWBK on Twitter) are claiming that West Ham and Bolton are fighting it out for Ross McCormack with a price tag of 2.5m being touted about. IF, (and I know it is a big if) that money WOULD get reinvested in players, I'd say take the money, buy Beckford for 1m, Ward for 450k, Green, Bowyer, Hill and keep Clayton. Thoughts?
2.5 million will get you a new yacht,a nice Bentley, and pay your chairmans air fares to and fro. but at least with the change youll be able to afford to keep Paynter for another season at least
Good sources. Naaaht! But playing along, is selling Ross Mc for £2.5m good business? You bet. Is selling Ross Mc for £2.5m and buying Beckford good business? You bet. But we would need the rest of the £2.5m to help pay his wages, so we would not get anyone else - just a one-for-one swap. I'd still do it - Becks and Beccs back together. Then we have to have feeders. Danny Pugh and Tom Lees anyone?
2.5million would allow us to sign a new player on a 3 year contract 16k per week. or Owen & Heskey for one season... I know what I would do...
What we should be doing is keeping our best players, paying them the going rate for good Championship players and tying them to long term contracts, and adding quality to the squad, using the £M's that have been lost/frittered away
How about we don't sell our best players but still buy new ones with the shed loads of money we have that isn't being used on the team?
I'm a bit ****ed off with all this 'selling club' mentality, and the meek acceptance of it by some people. We're not Crewe for ****s sake!!
Warnock, (I believe) knows what he is doing and would not be there now if he did not think he could get us to the Prem. If big Ross does not sign his contract, and 2.5m is on the table, lets grab it
Essex, I understand your frustrations. The only people that are fighting Bates is LUST, and to be honest, I don't think the majority of Leeds fans are making much of an effort. If 30,000 Leeds fans (lets say there are 1m Leeds fans in the Country) were to make Bates's life unbearable, he would not be there. When there are only 500b protesters Bates doesn't care
Ross is away at the moment and his house is not for sale but on the Beckford issue he is on 40k a week do you honestly believe we would pay that!So forget him and by the way most clubs will. Infact Ican't think of a club stupid enough to pay him that
40k a week ! did you just pull that figure from thin air or do you have proof he is on that amount of money !!
ay if we were the championship equivalent of Crewe we would be going wembley like they are next week. They have a youth set up that puts Leeds to shame with 10 of the side that won the play-off semi last week coming through the youth team.A well run club with very little money.
I would agree with you about Crewe, but you also have to put into prospective the fact that they have never won anything and that as a club their biggest ambition is to get into The Championship. They sell players as soon as they have shown to be good enough to move on and their supporters know and expect this. Leeds United is completely different as we expect to win games, get promotion and return to the top 7 of the EPL, spending money on players during this period. Unless our own attitude to how the club is changes, then we can't really be compared to teams like Crewe.
