I am SAFC through and through. However I jumped up and screamed when Drogba's penalty went in. Have I lived in the SE too long? Was it the Spurs factor? Was it the Germans not winning a penalty shoot out? Am I simply patriotic? Have I simply been starved of success far too long? Whatever I genuinely enjoyed it Did you?
Said all week I didn't care either way, soon as the game kicked off patriotism kicked in and I was behind Chelsea. They played ugly **** football throughout the tournament (bar Napoli home), but they won it, so they deserve it.
thought it was great, and I cheered like crazy when they missed the 1st pen in the shootout. I have always cheered for English teams in big finals or even just big matches, only one i have ever wanted to fall on their arse, is the toon, when they where in europe and up there in the league.
The downside to the night for me was that the cup was passed to snarler Terry to lift aloft. That apart, great night even though neither team were true champions. Funny old game now.
sure it doesn't mean much to those who have pre-conceived opinions/prejudices, but the Septics on this shore went ****ing ape **** when Drogba scored in the 88th, then again in penalties. awesome.
On a different note what a twat boswinga or however you spell him is! Totally self centred and went on like a spoiled kid! No not during the game he was excellent. However he wouldn't let the captain lift the cup. Had to have his hands on it. Kept snatching it and running off with it. He did the same with the fa cup last week. He's totally pissed me off. Stupid I know.
To me the game was excellent and the longer it lasted the better it got, maybe its what being a Sunderland fan does to you. Why, well bugger this nice football, a team with players out, playing out of position, carrying injuries, backs to the wall, riding their luck, body on the line then snatching it. Are you sure it was Drogba who scored and not Ji?
was it just my tv or was the atmosphere really really bad???when chelsea scored it was almost silent.... i was so happy though when the goal went it with drogba scoring to save the match and even more happy when the penny was saved from robben
More than happy Chelsea won it still got a soft spot for them from the early 70's before I saw the light. I wanted them to win anyway but, apart from the barcodes I'd be cheering for any British team.
You missed some great drama then mate. You gotta broaden your horizons. We are unlikely to see SAFC in this competition in our lifetime so you may as well enjoy someone else's glory. Lol
I find his very strange, I know we are all Sunderland fans , some more passionate than others but surely we are all football fans . And to not watch the Champions league final because my team wasn't in it , I find a bit sad. If we all had the same attitude to football we really wouldn't watch much football at all. As for the game I really got into it and screamed my head off when Drog slotted the last penalty in, really pleased for Fat Frank and Chec two good pro's, thought it was really funny when they presented the trophy and the horrible individual called JT got stood at the back and you couldn't see him at all when they hoisted the cup , priceless.
I find most football is boring these days with no one willing to take a risk and try beating an opponent. They pass the ball to death
