Can't see him keeping the job. He will have to stamp authority on the team and I feel he doesn't have that strength in him. Or to stand up to Abramovich.

Would you give di matteo 50 million of your money to rebuild + whatever they get for the CL £50,000,000 i think.

I wouldnt, he has worked wonders with what he had, but can he build a new team, funny thing is thats what AVB was meant to do, build a new team, but got sacked trying to.

I don't think winning this will have any bearing on the next Chelsea managers placement. Roman Abramovich wont have a seconds loss of sleep sacking him tonight if he felt like it.

Abramovich would have men killed, never mind sack a manager!

Di Matteo looks like a koala bear, and allegedly is paid in eucalyptus leaves...

I kind of think the same way, but like I said, Im open to being proved wrong. All top managers have to start somewhere, you dont get to be massive in an instant, he is young, and so far this season quite extraordinary, considering how much Abramovich has shelled out, in wages and compo, to other so called superstar managers, makes you think.

Abramovich has finally got to touch the C/L cup...

Now he'll be thinking about the Prem again, and how a team that are crowned European champions only managed to finish 6th in their domestic league..

So i think it'll be thanks and goodnight.....next manger.

He's got the bottle for sure & it'll be "Gone by lunch" if it's what he wants. I just hope Di Matteo gets in first!

Which ever way it pans out Di Matteo's stock has improved immensely, and there will be quite a few clubs who would like his services. Good luck to the man.<cheers>

True, wonder if Liverpool, Villa or maybe even former club West Brom are monitoring the situation....

    Useless fact...

He was born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and this was also his first team he played for...

I agree with the comments above. Does Di Matteo have enough about him to create his own team, with his own authority - i highly doubt it.

You don't get sacked from WBA if your this amazing manager. IMO the squad he had was decent, and they failed in the league because of AVB not playing certain players.

Abramovich has been owner of Chelski for almost a decade, everybody knew he wanted the CL most of all. He sacked Ancelotti for only winning the FA Cup and doing well in the league, but no CL. Even Mourinho couldn't get it for him. I honestly think he might pull out of Chelsea know he has won everything.

Distinct possibility that, he has nothing to do now except win the PL next season (just to prove a point) got a feeling the Man City bloke will do likewise. Could be wrong but, wouldn't surprise me if they were both up for sale in the next few years.

This is the big problem for all these Oligarch owner / Rich oil baron owned football clubs. Where do they finance £200k per week wages with 40,000 crowds if the sugar daddy moves on?

I'd be very worried if I were a Chelsea fan, although I would be extremely hungover this morning as well. Lol

I wouldnt keep him on, the last few months have only told me what i already knew, Chelsea have some great players!
Tactics havent even played much of a part of it, Bayern and Barca should have both won and if the chairman wants to challenge every year like this he needs a better manager. I was over the moon Chelsea won it but did they derserve it......no. They were outplayed by a good German team (not a great one). And as much as AVB failed, the next manager has the same sort of job to do, to get rid of the older players, bring in younger while maintaining a top 4 place, Di Matteo was given a much easier role, he was just tasked to get the best out of the squad WITHOUT making the tough decisions. I dont want to belittle his achievements though, he has done amazing but he aint got the stones for the next step, i dont think many people do lol
