Players don't leave top clubs just because they don't qualify for the CL - unless the clubs "think" they are big or they have mercenary players - and I wouldn't want THEM at Arsenal anyway. Gerrard's a homegrown Liverpool boy who will probably never leave regardless where Liverpool finish and Suarez joined this season, so he'll probably stick it out for another season before begging to leave as I hardly think he's staying at Liverpool because he's overjoyed with a Carling Cup. So the future is not bright for Liverpool if they keep winning **** trophies and not doing well in the Premier League. If that's what you want Arsenal to become, then I'm glad you're not our manager.

That is not the point and if you cared to read the thread you would know the point. It is how can an Arsenal fan be happy Chelsea won the CL when their own team haven't ? How can you want a rival London side to win the CL BEFORE your club has done it. Fine for those taking solace from Spurs missing out on the CL, but there were fans who wanted Chelsea to win. That I don't get.

Honestly, you are talking tosh. You CLAIMED nobody gave a hoot about the FA Cup but every Arsenal fan on earth wanted us to win the Carling Cup. You have nothing to say about that. Then you CLAIM players will leave Arsenal if they don't have a season in the CL and I show you Liverpool who kept all their best players the last time they didn't qualify for the CL and they won't lose their players this time either. Stop side stepping and face the arguments that you yourself are making .. and losing ! Well, I'm sure if it meant slipping out of the top 4 to put all of our energy into winning the Carling Cup, then no I don't think every Arsenal fan would agree with you, which was the point I was addressing. A Carling cup would be a (not so amazing) bonus on top of a top 4 finish, but not exactly a huge triumph for our club. Of course players will want to leave if we don't make the CL. Like it or not, that's what most players are like nowadays. If you're seriously telling me RVP wouldn't have been instantly out the door if we had not made CL, then you are mistaken. And in all honesty, I was referring to players joining Arsenal as well. If a team doesn't make the CL it really restricts what players they can sign unless they're willing to pay them mega bucks. So if you want us to have to resort to Liverpool standards and fork out **** loads of money for average premier league talent because not many people want to join us anymore despite the Carling Cup shining brightly in the trophy cabinet then good for you. I'd rather see a future of Champions League football for us.
I agree entirely with your sentiment re Arsenal winning and competing. However, Ashley Cole may have left us for the money but his performance tonight was world class. He utterly deserved that...if he stayed with us "prudent responsible" Arsenal he would not have all those medals AND be far poorer financially...its a no brainer and the guy thoroughly deserves that medal.
Not credible by YOUR definition. Don't forget we have one of the highest wage bills in the league...therefore by YOUR definition have bought a not credible and unworthy third place. As for ridiculous luck...if it wasn't for Fulop in the last game of the season...WE would've been the ones entering the Thursday night cup tonight.
