Tyldesley was worse than ever. Terrible commentator. However ITV is crap for any match without singling this one out.
I now dislike chelsea haha, fair play to then for winning. But they are the luckiest and, most annoyingly, boring team ever to grace a champions league final. Gives English football a worse image in a way, they have played bank of four and a bank of five throughout the whole competition, followed most of their games. Sure there has been drama, mostly Chealsea somehow surviving or the other team hitting the bar for the third time, but other than that they turn amazing fixtures into the most types of games, other teams passing it around in front of them... So yea fair play but i know hate them, their mentality is crap
I don't believe it, they're playing Blue Is The Colour. One of the voices singing that is dear old departed Peter Osgood.
I don't usually have favourite pundits and I can accept adverts as part of non-Licence TV. But I realised that Adrian Chiles really winds me up, not just because he knows about as much about football as me, but because he is basically the opposite of an interesting and fresh pundit. When he wrongly tried to correct Gianfranco Zola's comment at half time, who probably speaks better English than him, he looked a little bit silly. The commentators weren't great either and the pre-rehearsed lines on Drogba were dire. PS I am actually happy that Chelsea won...honest
Thought the Premier League was getting weaker but the team that finished 6th are Champions of Europe. Funny ol game!! Fair play Chelsea unlucky Spurs. Will Bale and Modric go now I wonder.
I don't think Chelsea were any more or less boring than other Champions down the years, whether English or from other countries - Liverpool in 2005 spring to mind when they managed to win the trophy after being outclassed for much of the evening.
That was the quickest John Terry got into his kit since Wayne Bridge came home early one day just seen that posted ^ made me chuckle a little bit!
Chelsea were not just outclassed tonight it was through the whole competition, they were also playing very defensive nearly every game also. Thats what im annoyed about
To be fair mate, the reason why I've probably watched nearly an hour of ITV in the last 10 years, is just the sort of mentality you're alluding to. ITV appeals to the emptiest brain cell, and occasionally, when they have something that appeals to a broader audience, they spoil it with their presentation. I realise that it is an ITV style and trademark, but it turns me off completely. I listened in on Radio 5 and enjoyed the game with the better quality presentation. It certainly doesn't help ITV that they have to periodically break the atmosphere by going for advert breaks, but they have never sold their style to me.
I don't agree with you, I didn't see the match but it strikes me that any team that spurns 33 chances to score, does not deserve to win.
They had to play a defensive game. You don't play an open attacking game against class teams like Bayern and Barcelona. This isn't League One ffs, teams can punish over-exuberence and lack of organisation easily.
They played defensive against teams that they are better than, Napoli for example, chelsea are better than them, but chelsea had do ride their luck in that game. As a neutral i find my self supporting the most deserving team, chelsea were most certainly not that. Most lucky sure
Chelsea being an underdog in semi and final and as a result playing defensive made it way more interesting you envious boring mug
