    Sorry, but that's a crock of ****.

Arsenal.com have not removed anything about RVP from the website.

and I suspect that the 'media ban' is also nothing more than fanciful thinking too.

Just what I read on the link... I did check Arsenal.com and nothing seems to have changed though so not sure where they got that story from???

I have been giving the matter some thought... I just think we'll have to wait until after the Euros to find out what Robin's decision will be. He did say he would talk about the contract before the Euros but nothing about a final decison. I think we'll have to wait until then..

Yeah I meant the link mate <ok> not your comment.

As I said before, No news is no news.

But that doesn't stop the gossip and rumour mill from spinning. Personally, I'm going to wait for an announcement,
anything else just seems like fruitless speculation to be honest.

No the point was that Arsenal players canon be compared to what Rooney did FACT.

None of us know the wages being offered so how can I give examples ? The point is players turn down mega bucks offers all the time - Man City had players turning them down for ages before Robinho went there is a first BIG name. PSG will have players turn them down, not glamorous enough a club or league.

SJW19 - Falcao is decent but to be honest he doesn't really excite me and neither does Cavani. They suit the teams and style of football played in their leagues. Not sure they would do well here. They are certainly no Silvas or Agueros <ok>

PISKIE - we don't need players like Cavani or Falcao so we don't need to spend £30/£40m so - lack of money would be an excuse <ok>

It is all speculation. My take on it is, RVP wants trophies and I do not blame him for this. He is no longer young and it would not make sense to be in a team which does not offer the opportunity to win anything. I would feel exactly the same if I were him. If Wenger and co. were to invest and RVP felt there was the possibility of challengingfor both CL and the title, he would stay without hesitation.

I'm sick of your excuses and bollox !

We don't need to spend big money to win trophies FFS. Real Madrid won F'all for 3 seasons with their best Galacticos team ... until Capello finally ended the rot. Its not the best players that will win you trophies, it is the system and tactics, it is knowledge and attitude, it is being able to win when playing badly, it is taking your chances.

Arsenal would never have won a single title since I've been alive if it were down to which team had the most expensive bloody players <doh>

I'm sick of that dumb ******ed argument. Simply buy the right fcuking players and we will win stuff instead of buying and sticking with mediocre inconsistent players not fit for English football to make our bank balance look good !

What? The best players are the players that will win you the trophies...

Maybe you mean the expensive players won't win you trophies which is true, spend money wisely and you can compete, it's just harder as you will have to spot talents worldwide with a good scouting network.

No I meant what I said - the best players. The best players don't always make the best team.

If a team with the best winger in the world (Figo), the best striker in the world (the REAL Ronaldo), the best midfielder in the world (Zidane), Beckham, Raul, Casillas, Carlos and Robinho - the latter few widely considered as among the best in the world at that time too - then it proves my point that the best players (who are usually the most expensive) do not win you trophies.

Add to that technical know how and a galvanise the team then you have winners.

So if that is the case, why do we need to go out and spend a fortune on players?

A few top players? Stop living in a dream world. We dont have the money to meet Walcott and RVPs renewal or replacement cost. This is all about cash and has nothing to do with what anyone wants.

Toledo, we don't need to spend a fortune. I'll tell you where I am (said in my Dragon's Den voice), continual improvement is what I want to see, how do we achieve this ? We buy and sell players. We buy players that benefit the squad and sell players that don't. We don't buy £30m to £50m players, we buy £10m to £25m players - with wages accordingly. We don't need to pay £250k per week, we pay £150k per week which we CAN afford - the best players of course on the highest salaries.

We sell many of our fringe players who are on good wages, the money made will offset the money we are spending which makes buying players more affordable. We buy a couple players each season and after 3 seasons we have a bloody good squad capable of challenging everyone. I think most fans would accept this as moving forwards.

There is absolutely no reason why we should not be being good players, none at all - apart from "preventing Diaby's development" <doh>

We cannot afford 150K a week. Again your maths does not add up.

For every 100K/week we spend, that is ~5M on the wage bill. If we pay 11 players 150K/week, then that is ~80-90M which, with the reserves and the acadamy would put our total bill very close to 130M. You will be short 10 players for the first team squad.

The average wage we need to be at is about 70K-90K.

The Man City wage bill will be well over double ours next year, so their average is about 170k-220k a week.

2 or 3 players tops need to be on the top salary. The rest should get paid what they are worth. Free up extra salary by culling the bloated squad.

Yes we can. Just get rid of Diaby and give his 50/60K per week to RVP. Easy.

    #154
  15. Indeed we can - total rubbish for anyone to suggest otherwise.

    #155
  16. 100% correct, and even if we have to increase our wage bill over 2-3 season as the contracts for the deadwood wind down, we can still afford it.

    #156
  17. Why the hell would we play 11 players £150k per week? <doh>

Just pay the man what he wants
The top players should earn top wages while the others should get wages they DESERVE
    Deadwood should be let go

Actually you are the one talking rubbish, diaby is on a contract for a certain number of years at an agreed salary. Therefore we can't just get rid of him, and we can't release him as he would be able to sue the club for the remainder of the contract. Unless he has broken the terms of the contract, and before some numpty states that he is always injured, all football contacts state that players will continue to be paid if they are injured, provided they follow medical advice. It is highly unlikely that anyone would buy him, until he proves his fitness, therefore we can't 'just get rid of him and give the money to RVP'. If it was just as simple as getting rid of someone, and using the money for other players, all clubs would be doing it.
