Does that mean you do, or you don't, want us to do a Leeds? Or that you simply dont believe that Arsenal could go the way of Leeds, Southampton, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Rangers, Liverpool etc.

How do you know RVP is demanding £250k per week ? You all are quick to dismiss unsubstantiated reports yet here YOU are using hearsay.

And I think you are being a drama queen regarding doing a Leeds, going to an extreme to validate a silly point <ok>

So you think Arsenal have no limit to the amount they can spend?

I'm pretty resigned to the fact he's going tbh which sucks but it's not the end of the world. For some reason someone in our club always steps up and takes the mantle when a big player leaves, such as RVP when Cesc/Nasri left. Also, if we do sell him, I find it hard to believe we won't spend some money we make from him on strengthening the side, so we're not exactly going to drop into mid-table like a lot of people seem to think when RVP leaves but it does mean we are going to be weaker come next season unless we really fork out for a talisman.

This is my attitude, but Podolski is a start. If Wenger can find a couple of reasonably priced rough diamonds as well, we will be set.

No you are being an ass of a drama queen. Firstly, are you RVPs agent or something that you know he wants 250k? You put all these imaginary scenario's in your post that no one but you think of.

What is a fact is we've been in decline for some time, losing top player after another. You bring up Podolski? So will he be saving us when RVP leaves for next season? Firstly, Podolski isn't in RVPs class and is still unproven in top flight club football and the Premiership. He may well be a good addition, but with RVPs possible departure, we will need major strengthening to compensate. You are gravely mistaken if you think we'll see top 4 if we don't strengthen and lose RVP. Who will score anything close to 37 goals and 17 assists in all competitions. He saved our season, don't you ever forget that.

  8. Who ever said that?

Arsenal can realistically afford to spend £150m per season on wages and still turn a small profit. At this level the profit would start to increase further when new commercial deals are in place and the stadium debt is gone.

With a squad of 55 players (as opposed to 71 we have now) that is an average of £52k per week. Take into account quite a few of those 55 would be on around £5k per week, and it becomes clear that we can easily afford to pay the top 3-4 player £150 per week.

    Example:

4 players on £150k per week
10 players on £90k per week
10 players on £45k per week
10 players on £30k per week
10 players on £15k per week
11 players on £5k per week

£128m total - add in ~£22m for manager, coaching staff, and admin to bring it to £150m

That plan, as an example would bring our entire 1st team and 3 subs to a min of £90k per week - all significantly more than our current top earner. We'd have a second and third team earning £30k-£45k per week each, and a development squad of 20 or so players earning between £5k to £15k per week.

Even if RVP wanted £250k per week - which there are no reports anywhere that he does - we could in fact afford it.

So 10 players in the first team squad, after the first 14, are going to play for 45K/week? Grow up and be sensible.

Oh and you are around 20M over; 130M/year is a far more realistic figure.

  10. Firstly we are ALREADY over £130m a year in wages and making a profit every year of ~£30-40m - so do some research first. £150m is easily affordable, especially when you consider extra income from commercial deals due inside the next 18 months.

Also - £45k a week for a player who occasionally makes the SUBS bench for the first team matches is perfectly reasonable... in fact probably over paid. You seem to be under the misconception that all players in second teams are on the £50-60k a week bracket.

Our average at the moment is around £37k.

You've accused others of not being very good at maths - but yours stink.

regardless of how you mix it up, paying £150k a week to 4 players is easily achieveable.
