Still think we should look at the continental route for strikers I reckon there will be some unhidden gems, especially since a lot of clubs seem to have an established pecking order and it seems tough for a lot of young players to break through.

Didn't she hire Neil Doncaster and Roger Munby? If the worst case scenario happens and McNally went I really hope for the sake of the club and for law and order in Norwich that she has taken note of whats happened over the past decade at this club.

If this is about contract length then this is a wilbraham thing but not how people thought yesterday. If I was him I'd be looking at the way we've been discarding player at the end of their contracts and thinking that this will be his last contract.
Holt's game is largely not based on skills he will lose with age, such as speed. With the right clauses such as maybe full wage based on playing in more than 2 thirds of games and a relegation clauses, I have no problem with him getting a contract until he's 35

With the right clauses, I'd agree, Bath. I just wonder what the sticking points could be to take such a big step as a request so quickly, that would seem to suggest they're miles apart in negotiations.

are we losing mcnally now too?! <doh>

for goodness sake will people please keep calm. if holt goes then its not the end of the world. it'll be a huge, huge blow and we'll all be disappointed for a while but he is one footballer who is looking out for whats best for his family. i'm sure we'd all take them into account before we thought about the fans. likewise if lambert goes, it will be a much bigger, in fact a massive blow, but he is one man. he is not above the football club and we will all move on. as it stands, none of these people are leaving the football club so just hold your horses and see what happens. there is certainly no need for overblown panic. its a concern but some people seem to have completely lost the plot!

I'm sure he does, perhaps that's why he wants to get as much out of a very short career as possible.

Spot on! At the end of the day the club and us fans are the ones who count the most. Players and managers will come and go, we stay loyal through thick and thin.

There tends to be a lot of emphasis on it would be disaster if Holt or Lambert went. That is not necessarily the case. We are much more of an attractive option for many good managers and players than 3 seasons ago. We could get in people who could be even better and keep moving the club forward.

If Holt and Lambert did go then they would get my best wishes and thanks for all they have done, but we move onto the next era whatever that will will hold.

Altogether "Kick it off, throw it in , have a little scrimmage..... OTBC!

Good point. After all 15k per week plus bonuses and endorsements wouldn't leave a pot to piss in. N

I don't think either of them are going anywhere, but if they do, good luck to them. The Club has to evolve, and realistically at 31, Holt is going to have to be replaced in the next eighteen months or so. Nothing on the playing/management side is permanent, more than that, the squad at all clubs is in a constant state of flux.

I hope, and think, that both Holt and Lambo will be here next season. But whether they are or not not, the football club (and all of us) will be, regardless.

Personally I could happily live on £15k a year, although Mrs CT might have something to say about that.I have a friend who landed a job about 15 years ago paying £70k a year. His wife was on more than half that too.Married 25 years and no mortgage to speak of.About three years later he bought a car from me for £8000 and needed £5000 to change. He said "Can you get me finance?" I was flabbergasted. How do you go through that kind of money?

To be fair to Holt I actually sympathise with his position. He hasn't earnt big money throughout his career and even now on 15k a week after tax etc is probably 'only' half a million a year or so..say he has earnt that for 2 years thats obviously 1m with small earnings from his early career - I doubt that is enough to retire comfortably and never work again. If he gets one last contract now he is probably hoping he will be in a position to retire without working again.
