William Hill is currently the best place to have that double 2/5 & 15/8 which I make 3.025-1

Three bets today. Whailley in the 2.30, Fairway To Heaven 2.45 and Van Ellis in the 3.20. Avoid as you will....

The former has improved massively since being gelded, the second won in such taking style last time and the third looks overpriced on the form shown and I really liked his debut...

    Morning all.

Must say I am in a foul mood now thanks to the morning line. Wake up at 9 to watch on +1 and have now turned off. I was expecting a little bit of talk on Frankel of course. But for 40 minutes all I heard was that fat shaky slob chatting ****e and shouting on. The bloke is a moron and looked ridiculous with that 50 foot flag in his pocket. Didn't even get to hear about any other races - disgrace and I refuse to watch the remainder of the show.

Noble Mission is expected to deliver today but to my eyes he is far from a 15/8 shot in this field. The first thing is he's giving 5lb to the field, so at level weights he's got to be 2-3lengths better than anyone else; maybe he is. The second thing is that he has had two far from straightforward wins. Yes he won both well but in the first of them he threw himself about a great deal in the first three furlongs before buckling down and winning very well. In his second win he was ridden as if he wasn't straightforward and got home from horses he'd need to beat well to be a Derby horse. The third thing is if he wasn't Frankel's brother he might not be 15/8: more likely 3-1.
So who might beat him? Well Farhaan looks a straightforward colt and both of his 2yo races he won he raced in a very uncomplicated style without shirking the issue. In his second winning race he definitely had to be resolute and he was. He's let down by his Royal Lodge performance, when after looking dangerous for 6f he faded in the final furlong, although Hills accepted the inevitable. One point made about Farhaan was that he was an unfurnished colt who needed to grow into his frame. Perhaps he got tired after that second victory and should have been put away for the year. Another thing against him is that would Hills have retired if he thought Farhaan was a strong Derby contender?
Thought Worthy is an interesting animal who has only run on going worse than soft and you can't judge the value of his Sandown 2nd. The other two runners are far from donkeys but it will be a big step up to win for either of them.
So although Noble Mission may win with his head on his chest I think this is a tricky race. If I was there and betting on it I'd take Farhaan.

    Hello lads.

Pearl Ice is expected in the 2.55 at Thirsk...7/2 is available but I expect this to be well backed today.

    Just passing on.

Tony McCoy never ceases to amaze me. 16-times champion and yet he still has the motivation to put in a double shift on a Saturday. His first ride is in the 2.05 at Bangor and he signs off in the 8.00 at Uttoxeter. Probably been out riding work this morning as well. Mind you, a few of the other jump jockeys are doing the same, including Jason Maguire.

I used to rush home from work on a Saturday morning to catch that show. Now I consider it a waste of an hour.

Excellent research ROTO re Lutine Bell <applause>

For me, I'm always suspicious of horses that are always having excuses made for them, and horses that seem to have no problem getting placed, but rarely win. There's usually an underlying psychological problem. I have a dog like that! Hates being in the lead, very difficult to deal with an animal like that.

Enjoyed your analysis though, so good luck <ok>

It has gone down hill! Likewise Channel 4's coverage of midweek racing- Chester - I was not impressed with the coverage of that likewise with York last week

The ironic thing is, they're probably employing some numpty to "re-define" or "improve" the show and he's making a right royal ****-up of it <doh>

They should give the job to Ron - he'd sort it out <ok>
