Steve Morison was in Vardy position a few years back and he is now playing for Norwich in the prem and he is a welsh international
Yeah but Morison only cost Milwall 130k when he joined them, 130k, 1.7million, big difference when talking about non-league players
Quite alot of players have come from non league and done well in the championship and higher. Vardy is a risk we can afford to take
This is the important part. It doesn't matter if he's ****e, they can get rid and sign someone else. That's the difference between Leicester and us unfortunately.
I guess your point is clear, alot of non league players join championship clubs for small fees when they hit form, championship clubs with little money can take the risk of 100k signings and see if they pay off, Peterborough do this alot with league 2 and non-league players because they have little money, you on the other hand have a big transfer budget where you can afford to risk 1.7 million on a non league player, it is a MASSIVE risk but hopefully for you next season it may pay off, good luck
So far we have payed 1M. Should Vardy Fall on his arse then we could sell him to a League 1 or 2 club for around 250K That would be a loss of around 750K which is alot less then we we stand to lose with people like Matt Mills and Jermaine Beckford
I sort of felt sorry for you when Beckford and Mills turned out to be ****, no one likes financial loss but the amount you spent on them two, and the amount you'll get back is a joke, I never could stand Beckford or Mills tbh anyway, smug pricks who thought they were class and they could walk into a prem side, Vardy seems the sort of modest grafter that will want to earn his place in the championship and possibly the prem, good luck to him and Leicester next season, perhaps we might see you in the prem aswell if we get our act together
This will be quite a good test of Walshy's ability, if Vardy makes the step up, then he'll be hailed as a genius, if he doesn't, people will just claim he scouts people who've already made their name or he just takes a punt on young lads from big clubs. We've certainly had a mixed bag with the lads that came to City, take the Man United kids(and the ex-Leicester signings) out of the equation and things don't look all that clever. That said, he's a very nice fella and I'd like him to succeed. While Nige gets sacked.
Surely though with the fair play rules, you want to make as little a loss as possible to avoid the tax penalties, so signing non-league players for far more than their worth is daft.
On the fleetwood forum, they say the deal is £700,000 plus £300,000 based on games played and goals scored. Also they get the first £700,000 on any sell on profit. Take into account his wage is low for our squad. I think it's a good risk to take!
We spent £1.3M on a 27 year old L1 player who can't score at this level. How is that better than spending £1M on a 25 year old who can't score at this level? (worst case scenario for Leicester as if he doesn't score they won't play him enough to pay the extras)
