We have been to the brink. We are back on an even keel anda measure of success has come our way. We have prided ourselves on achieving that success from a position of diminishing debt and a policy of finding stars from the lower ranks. There is not one player who is above that. If any of our very well paid players wants to disrupt any future achievements by making wage demands then I believe they should be shown the door.
Have to say i think it's a good move from Grant, and you have to give him some credit, alot more intelligent than i thought, and lets face it you can't blame him can you?
If clubs know he wants to leave and the club will let him I really don't think it will be as much as people expect.
There is ways to do things if you've built up a good rapport with your club then it's better to just say hey guys this is going to be my last season at the club I'm going to make sure it's a good one. I know you rarely get that off footballers.
Am I right in saying Wes has only played in two away games this season? You need someone ever present for captain in my opinion.
Two things with Carroll. Firstly, he was never worth anywhere near what Liverpool paid and had it not been for the way Torres left (and for how much they got for him), no club would've spent that much on Carroll. But secondly, with him, you're not only buying the player but their future potential as well. There's a calculated risk on the player they're going to develop into, as well as the years service you'll get from them. With Holt, he's realistically as good as he's ever going to get, and you won't get that many years from him. With that in mind, I would think £4.5 - £5 mil is a decent ball park figure.
Big waste of money at the moment he looks like their version of Shevchenko but saying that Shevchenko actually had some pedigree and scored goals at most of his clubs Carroll scored 31 goals for Newcastle. Holt's record is patchy in places but his scored a lot of goals in the past three seasons I think he has one or two in him scoring like he is.
Apologies about your original thread being shut down btw mate. Our bin dwelling friends hopefully won't darken this thread.
How much did the toffees pay for jelavic? Can't see the pieman going for more than him Gotta be a cheeky bid and double your wages offer from the likes of Sunderland / everton I'd guess and at 31 it's worth a punt. No point in keeping an unsettled player
I have to say that ifhe wants out having had three good seasons from him a 1000% profit that £4million would represent would be cracking business.I would prefer he stayed but if he won't its hardly disastrous.
I'm impressed that the pieman has personally confirmed that to you beefy. This is football, they'll tell you any old **** you know that. Did you quatar has a balmy wroxhamesque temperature in the summer.....
Simon Thomas‏@SimonThomasSky On the Grant Holt front I can confirm that it is not because there is an approach from another club. Make of that what you will. #NCFC It's called the internet, learn how to use it, mockney.
