We get very down on a lot of our fringe players, but all clubs have them. Man Utd have struggled with Anderson and Berbatov for years, and I guarantee they are paid just as much as Denilson. Let's not get started on Adebayor!

Bendtner, Vela, and Denilson are all doing fairly well out on loan right now and although they may or may not be Arsenal standard they are still very decent players. We have a tendency to allow our frustrations with the team as a whole not winning the PL, causing us to target individuals for personal attacks that are usually way OTT. These players are not rubbish, useless etc. A lot of them helped us to very decent seasons in the top 4, so thay would help improve teams like Spurs or Liverpool.

Squillachi and Almunia are better examples of players that have fallen badly, but again every team has them, Bridge, Woodgate, Owen, Hargreaves have all had really dire periods in their careers with other teams.

I don't have any sympathy with the older players, but Bendtner, Vela, and Denilson are all young enough that they can become useful to us, and I don't think it helps Arsenal FC for fans to get on their backs for even a few bad seasons when they are in their early twenties. Some players take a long time to develop. Drogba was nearly 26 before he hit the big time.

These 3 in particular could be very useful to us, based on what they are doing now. All three are putting in good performances.

  2. Sorry TT, but if you really think Denilson, Bendtner, and Vela are the answer then you simply dont know what you are talking about. We dont need or want run of the mill players who will not help at all to move us forward taking up huge chunks of the wage bill.

Jayram, you think all our players are rubbish and they finished third. That was with players like Squillachi, Allmunia and Park named in the squad. We cant afford a squad of 25 players all worth 120K/week in wages, we cant afford to pay them all. So you are going to have to be content with some players that just don't attract that kind of attention.

Given your love of the glamourous player, I would even say that if you like them, we probably can't afford them, and wont sign them.

  4. Bendtner, Vela and Denislon had no impact thsi season at all on our 3rd place finish. I would have thought that was obvious.

You could argue them not being here helped us out this season, and thus had a positive impact on our season.

TT - 'Bendtner, Vela, and Denilson are all young enough that they can become useful to us, '

Give me strength. You do have a habit of making the most ill-informed, myopic, delusional outpourings of utter clap-trap.
The ONLY way they would be useful to us is receipt of a cheque for their services somewhere else.

Bloody hell! I really am starting to think that Toledo is a WUM. He really puts Anderson and Berbatov in the same bracket as Denilson!! Anderson at a push but Berbatov? A golden boot winner? Really?

Exactly, in numerous years of service for this club, they have offered very little, and should be shipped on. I still hate Denilson for making us miss out on Xabi Alonso.

You really think Denilson made us miss out on Xabi Alonso? Yeah, and if it wasn't for Bendtner, there would have been the second coming of Christ in an Arsenal shirt!

Yes, Wenger didn't sign him as he said it would hurt Denilson's develoment, why do you think we always make that joke now whenever we're linked to someone good.

Was reading a Man City forum, and all the ****s on there do not even want RVP. They think he is too old to spend the money being talked about. Then, they went on talk about getting Falcao and Cavani instead, and the sad thing that is not even them being in fantasy land, because City could easily get these players. ****ing depressing for the likes of us.

Just to rein you in and reiterate, I didn't say it can't be done, I said it can be overestimated as to how easy it is. <ok>

Depressing isn't the word. From being the top Premiership club with World Class players, to one that is struggling to hold onto one of it's last remaining ones. Man City are now courting Hazard, we are courting Feck all. Whats funny about the Hazard thing is Man U are coming in for him too apparently. JUst 2 years ago Hazard wouldn't have batted an eye lid, now he's probably favouring Man City.

If winning trophies is about which team buys the best players then Arsenal will lose every single year, for ever, no question.

It is as simple as that. If it isn't about tactics, not about developing players, not about system, just about who has the "best" players, we lose, might as well pack in and give up now. The three teams significantly richer than us would have to screw up so enormously that they really ought to be committed as insane, if they allow a team that is selected after three teams have had their pick of players, to beat them.

We have a situation where Man City have such an abundance of stars that their fans don't even want the top scorer in the league. If it is about who signs the biggest stars how can Arsenal win. Hell, they can sign RVP to sit and rot, just so we can't have him. And you know what, who can really blame him for doing it.

So you go ahead had hope that madness hits SAF, Mancini and whichever name Chelsea hire to manage their team, and I will hope that buying the most overhyped players will not mean certain success.

We cannot afford to even pay our top scorer, what they pay a player they have sent out on loan as surplus to requirements. Not even close. They pay Adebayor nearly double what we are going to offer RVP. How can you say that the players we are linked with even have a chance? And we are not only up against clubs in our league. There are 5 or 6 other clubs world-wide that can afford to pick up players before we get a look-in.

The only way we can win, is to stop thinking about doing things like Manchester City. Start thinking of how we can win by NOT buying the biggest stars or the most hyped players and start thinking how actually supporting the team might help.

We're not asking the world TT, just to bring in a few top players who would raise the quality of the squad and to augment the talent we already have. We always seem to 'make do' with insufficient squads, no more of this.
