Long shot and full of risks but at 32, does he not fit the Mon 'last chance saloon' signing criteria?

He did it with Tony Cottee and Chris Sutton when no one else wanted them and if loves the thrill of doing the unconventional.

I'm not saying I would definately sign him but he would be a high profile signing and has the pedigree for sure.

    Anyone?

    Not for me Cest.

I don't doubt that he would still get goals as an impact sub, problem being that he'd play twice, probs score 3, and be ****ed for the season.

Such a shame, unquestionably he would have overtaken Charlton as England's record scorer, indeed, heed have added 20 or so to the record, without the injuries.

Goal every other game - good.

Injury every other game - not so hot.

Hmmm if its approaching deadline day and we've missed out on our targets then could be worth a punt on a pay as you play. Have a feeling he'll end up at a villa/spurs/everton as back up

I'm sure that if there was any milage left in Owen , Fergy wouldn't have let him go. It's a no from me.

No, no and thrice no...in my opinion, he has not been up to scratch for a good few years now and is very injury prone and to boot...We need to be looking for players with hunger and fire in their bellies!

He must be one of the most strange players we've had. No affinity with the crowd, just no connection between us and him at all. If you want someone to give their all for the team, he's definitely not your man.

No, but only because of his injury record, his goals to games ratio wherever he has been is very good, including Newcastle and Man Utd.

I would consider a pay as you play deal.

This, I think he's horrid little man now, but at the time you kind of felt you should like him, rather than actually liking him. Considering he was club captain he had very little to do with the media!

    Yes. A hundred times yes.

When he played for Newcastle I was dead jealous. Sure he's injury prone (that's why pay-as-play deals exist) but undoubtedly a great natural goalscorer. If we had the choice between bringing on Ji and bringing on Owen..

People say if he had anything left, Fergie wouldn't have let him go. Playing for Man Utd and playing for Sunderland are (sadly) completely different things. Give him a run at any mid-table club and he'll be great - there's a reason he was getting on the bench ahead of Berb.

In Darren Bent we had someone who pledged his undying love for us, the club and the area. Then he ****ed us over for a few bob.

If Owen is fit and able and can score goals in tight games but maybe not from the start (as has been said who would, I rather have Ji, Wickham or Owen come on for the last 20 mins from the bench) I dont really give a **** if he likes us or we like him to be honest.

It would be a yes for me. Can score - since Bent we havn't had a striker that can do that.
