according to the sky sports twitter feed he has handed in a transfer request. Proven goalscorer at this level and in the prem and I cannot see any other prem club realistically coming in for him as he wants more game time. thoughts?
Sky Sports News ‏@SkySportsNews Sky Sources: Grant Holt puts in transfer request at Norwich. London, just reading the same thing. He said this earlier in the week about Lambert "I am hoping he is here when I come back" Maybe Lambert had other ideas Like you say he's a proven goalscorer and would be a decent signing but I'd say we would be way down any list to get him.
Its been rejected... Looks like Lambert might be leaving and Grant wants to follow! Arggg not good news for the canaries.
Not such good news for us if Lambert goes in my opinion as i would imagine MM would be top of their list.
I cant see any other prem club coming in for him really. Latest update is Norwich have rejected the request.
why would he drop down a division? why are we discussing him anyway he will either stay put or defect to another PL team....
Never mind bloody Holt coming to us................................. im with Ronny on this, if Lambert goes reckon Malky will be high on there list as a replacement
No offence but why would a striker who has done so well in his first season in the Prem take an immediate step down? Get a grip ffs!
As he's put the request in I'd suggest he already has spoken to the club he wants to play for. At 31 his time is limited as a premiership player. He may well want to drop down a league if it guarantees him regular footy.
He hasn't been starting every game hence why he may be willing to drop a division. Not many prem clubs could offer him a definite first team place
Why leave unless you have something better in the pipeline? Maybe this is a big dummy spit about not making the England squad?
I have not read all the replies yet so will say this......... 1. Other PL clubs would take him, without a doubt. Not Liverpool, Man Utd etc but more the likes of the bottom half of the league. 2. This appears to be amount wages as opposed to game time. 3. Cardiff City would be outbid by another club. Of course, the wages thing might get resolved (it might not) and everything will be nice in the garden once again.
Agreed, I could see him fitting in pretty well at Stoke but hopefully we can hang on to him for at least 1 more season
Incredible that Norwich have such a good season and then they have all this drama. Again it is part of the process that stops the gap between the "bigger" teams and the others getting closer. Have a good manager, build a nice squad, then watch them leave over the course of the summer....sucks.
