It might be easier for you, but it's annoying for everyone else.

You all now how good Steve Walsh is and if he thinks Vardy is good enough and so does Nigel then I think he will be a great signing

We had no end of trouble trying to get a striker last summer. We made offers of 6.5M for Nikica Jelavic, 7M for Shane Long and 7M for Nicky Maynard

If Vardy gets 10-15 goals the he would be a bargain. But if a non league goal machine is worth 1M+. How much for Jordan Rhodes?

Not sure Walsh is that great when it comes to finding strikers myself, it's been our problem for years and it's still a problem now.

A 25 year old non-league player isn't worth £1M so it's a bit of a moot question. There's too many players that score for fun even at L1 level and then struggle at Championship level for any of them to be worth a guaranteed fee of over £1M when they're untested, never mind at non-League level. But we all get ****ed over and ripped off because in the past one or two players have made it and nobody wants to miss out on the next Lambert, so at the slightest sign of any ability clubs start throwing silly money at it. (and I'm including us with our pursuit of Mackail-Smith, McLean, and Austin in January last year)

Was Walsh actually that good for us? Ignore the United boys for a minute. Hobbs and Fryatt he already knew (Credit for picking them up when at Leicester maybe). Rosey knew Pearson as I recall? And he was a free agent in to the season so his agents will have been shopping him around. Mckenna was brought in for exprience, not really a find. Mclean was probably bought on the principle he was joint top score in L1 when we bought him nothing else. Simpson maybe, but he had Championship experience. Pusic and Belaid hardly set the world a light. (Although Belaid in the Koren hole could have worked well).

I get the impression it was more AP bringing in Gerrard because Gardener went to Palace.

I take it Walsh identified Marshall (interested in Jan) and Kane (the striker we were trying to bring in just before NP left). Kane had just had a good game on the telly for Spurs. So maybe Marshall was the only one to be a 'find' and we never got him.

Side note. Drinkwater, Kane and Marshall were targets for us before NP jumped ship. We could have done with them really.

Walsh isn't good with strikers. We signed Vine, Adebola, Mclean, Fryatt, Simpson. Only Fryatt has been any good and that was obvious.

Going O/T I know, but how do you do the multi-quote thingy-me-bob as it never works for me?

Back on topic (sort of) I'm sure I heard that the fee paid for Vardy is the highest paid for a non-league player. Given his age I think it's a gamble. It may pay off, but it's still a £1m gamble

Adebola was a free transfer, but he wasn't a budget signing much to some people's surprise (for some reason they thought he'd be on L2 wages despite being signed as one of our 3 main strikers for the season). Fryatt and McLean cost more than Vardy, Simpson was in an £800k deal, and Vine was on £20k/wk, though thankfully we weren't paying most of it.

Erm i queried why sign Adebola and pay him around 10 grand a week (at a guess) at the time when he was clearly over the hill. Naming no names but i was assured on here by someone in the know he would only be on 3 grand a week.

Totally agree OLM. I don't know about other posters on here but I am sick of logging on and all you see is his name on post after post on thread after thread. It's like a mad dogs diarrhoea all over the forum.
I think it was last week I logged on and he had posted 19 times on 18 different themes in an hour and a half ffs.
Then again it is probably due to him riding about Hull all day in his Merc. and making more money in a day then a poster in the HDM did in a month. That is what he posted a couple of months or so ago in the HDM..
How the **** he knew that of someone he had no idea who he was is totally beyond me.

Simpson was only £50k, rising to £250k with add-on's(which we avoided by not playing him), though it seems he was on a fairly hefty wage.

I still don't believe for a moment that we paid Adebola £9k a week.

I thought Simpson was 1.2million but with a set of installments for how many games he played, like 250k for every 10 games

We were completely potless when he came in, we signed Solano, Harper, Koren and Simpson for pretty much nothing, it wasn't until the Allam's turned up that we spent any money.

Then how did Arsenal agree to give us Simpson, surely they wouldn't just give him to us for 50k

£1.3m but that still seems shrewd compared to spending £1m rising to £1.7m on a 25 year-old non-league player with no football league experience.
