    What about that boy who just got cleared of murder yesterday? would you of killed him? He is innocent now in the eyes of the law even though he spent 7 years in jail for murder.

    He's not my son so the point is moot.

    I've not looked into that case in too much detail but from what i've read no one has said he was innocent, just that the verdict was "Unsafe", those are two very different things.

    Is there something wrong with freeing somebody who was convicted on "unsafe" grounds?

    Indeed, and the Taxpayer would be better off to the tune of several hundred thousand pounds which will be heading his way in compo.

    He spent almost 8 years in prison for something he never did. I think he's entitled to some compo.

    PS you're an idiot.

    I think his family might have an even more substantial lawsuit available if he was dead, Dev.

    Not sure how the lawsuits work around this, but if it's like injury claims after a road accident etc the payout is usually higher if you are still alive, because you need to live with the anguish!

    Wouldn't surprise me, to be honest.
    The only recent case that I could find was a Taiwanese Airman, whose family received £2.1m last year.

    I was of course winding Trev up folks, though I still fervently believe in the death penalty for the most heinous crimes, nothing will ever change my mind.

    <ok>

    There was that case in Oz (?) recently where a girl ate a dodgy KFC (?), it turned her spazzy and they got millions in lawsuit. It's mostly to pay for the medical costs to support you if it's rendered you useless to society.
