Seeing as I posted the story about Skrtel leaving, here's his recent interview on LFC.tv http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/skrtel-on-11-12-and-his-future Looks like he's committed. Good news.
i think his agent was stirring for the deal. its time he's contract was renewed or the club sells hi mto get best price so those negotiations should be done this summer. His agent was on about wanting to know the clubs plans in light of so many changes since he signed up day one. It never directly said he wanted to go for cl football so i'm glad the guy actually said the press were up to no good.
Ah yes, he's the bloke some fickle fans would've sold two years ago. Just as they'd have sold Lucas and Kuyt after one season and now get on the backs of Henderson and Downing in their first season. They'd have sold Ronaldo at Utd early doors, too. A pox on the House of Fickle.
Dead right! Don't forget to add Adam to that list; although he seems to have passed on the scapegoat batton to Downing recently!
I didn't think Charlie was doing too well tbh, but making any one player a scapegoat for all our ills is stupid. As we haven't exactly set the world alight since he got injured I suppose that proves the point.
I think people forget that Adam was making perhaps the biggest step up of all the signings. Whilst I admit he is no world beater you could name at least five players who performed worse than Adam! You also must take into account that his weaknesses were cruely exposed only when Lucas got injured. I am still convinced that the scapegoaters merely reveal themselves as the followers of life.
Despite being injured for a long period towards the end of the season, he still finished with the most league assists for us. Not sure how i rate Adam but facts is facts.
I didnt really think Adam was all that bad when he had Lucas beside him, certainly considerably worse than Gerrard but most players are
The one thing Adam needs to do is cut out his ridiculously poor tackling. He's cost us a fair number of points by chopping at legs from behind.
Yes he certainly needs to work on his defensive game no question, I think he would have got better and better had Lucas been alongside him. I still feel he can be a good signing yet; certainly a very good option from the bench if we can get a world class CM in!
Depends if you are comparing the 'old' Gerrard or last seasons Gerrard; if you are talking about the season gone I would say Adam is better!
Adam was 'fine' with Lucas next to him. However, his constant attempts at the hollywood ball was embarrasing as it rarely payed off, his tackling (or persistant fouling) and his set pieces were dire. There's quality in there somewhere, he just needs it bringing out. Less hollywood balls (the 50yard cross pitch ones) and more through passes or over-the-top chips which he has the skill to produce. Less tacking full stop and more marking. Sometimes covering space is just as effective.
